One of the stranger facts is that a few of his groupies and ex-band mates ended up going to North California and becoming Orthodox Christian monks, supposedly after a conversation with Seraphim Rose. Rose himself was a burnt out hippie, so him adopting disenfranchised punks isn't too out of the ordinary. With the group they released a zine called "Death to the World" featuring photos of monks wearing leather and aviator shades while holding decorated skulls. The zine is still maintained by the monastery and a lot of their articles mention GG as an example of a tortured soul that was thrashing around in kind of a horrific cultural environment.

Cleanest American punk maybe.
I honestly think that GG was amazing songwriter, considering how little time he got to spend actually making music between his bands breaking up and being in jail, not to mention he had to learn everything by himself. That he made music that is listenable at all is impressive. I think his earlier songs like anything pre-Eat My Fuc or even songs like “Gimme Some Head” show genuine pop sensibility and effort to make catchy songs first of all things. The later stuff is very rough production-wise and his voice gets shitter progressivelly - wchich just shows the skeleton underneath is still good because they are still discernable from one another and memorable on their own. My favorite songs are “I Wanna Fuсk Myself”, “Expose Yourself To Kids”, “Louden Boomer”… I’d even say he was just as talented as Kurt was, just Kurt chose to make by landslide more accesible music.

I once stayed at a friends house while on tour and this guy had a really fascinating collection of various recordings and what not from decades in underground music circles. And he had a separate little shelf with every gg allin recording he could find on cassette and one was cassette was labeled really oddly and vaguely. Anyway I started listening to it on his stereo while he was taking a shower and it wasn’t music but I couldn’t figure out what it was. Then like ten minutes of listening later I realized it was a bootleg audio recording of gg’s funeral and I like immediately turned it off in horror.
It's always John Lennon's fault 😂

Lucky enough to witness two live viewings of GG/Murder Junkies. First gig, ended with some guy getting beaten with his own crutches, by GG. GG threatens revenge on Austin sho goers. Returned, early Summer, '93. Saw some metal headed, from San Antonio, taking swipes at GG with his beer bottles. GG, picks up the mic stand and chases the guy around the audience, ultimately, whacking the guy with the weighted end. The best $10 spent between two shows.
GG Allin's father with a menace. I remember watching a documentary on GG Allin as well as watching an interview with his brother Merle. Also GG Allin wanted to be known more for his musical talent than his antics. Another fact about Gigi Allen is that he really like Hank Williams and Hank Williams grandson actually did a tribute to him
He was EXTREMELY influenced by Alice Cooper. A lot hasn’t been said about this but it’s responsible for much of his vocal sound and even lyrics. He was also an incredible drummer

Mad video bro. Was wondering if you'd considered a video on Mike Patton or Ronnie James Dio.
i bumped into gg allin once in a new york city deli, i recognized him, and being a punk/hardcore kid at the time, i definitely knew of him, but not familiar with his music tbh, although i knew the song titles to a lot of his music. anyway, i cautiously approached him, and he was polite, and nice to me. i heard his music after, and it actually sounded pretty tame, like 50s rock n roll
i think GG made the most of his life. him healing and getting treatment would’ve been best, but his escape was music and he had a lot to escape from
Imagine an alternate timeline where he had a normal dad with normal religious beliefs and his given name was "Joseph Christopher." In that timeline, his primary source of inspirado was The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (which was the same as in our timeline). From there, he would go on to become that dimension's ultimate icon of the Psychobilly genre, opening for and collaborating with bands of all genres, including but not limited to that dimension's version of Oingo Boingo. Idea for a fanfic right there!
In regards to the last point in the video, he was literally a performance artist and arguably as real as it gets when it comes to dedication. The reports of him being courteous etc and his demeanour in interviews proves this and also a surprising lack of allegations made against him except the one which inconsistencies…
Its so cool that i just heard an album from this guy

It's interesting that capitalism could be a prime motivator for GG's persona. "If I do something that will get a rise out of people, then I'll be famous!" He understood the internet age of rage bait when the internet was only the realm of computer scientists and academics. Though it is sort of the mind of any performer- "If I do (this) and (this reaction) then I've found my niche!" I love that the picture @0:44 is of GG when he had just died. Why is Sid Barrett @5:05?
We appreciate the extra effort but my vote is that the morphing between photos isn't needed, and actually distracts.
It is theorized that "GG" was in fact a character. This is backed up by the two sides of Him, that has been documented. Ofc this could be a personality disorder, too. Such an interesting character... I still think Dino is a more wholesome dive... although that guy was no "jesus" neither.

If GG got his act together and tried being in a consistent band with proper songwriting, he could've been a good comedy rock singer, if you listen to some of his country songs, they are more tongue in cheek and his early material was pretty good 'cause it was more classic punk as opposed to edgy shock value.
GG Allin is just a really misunderstood prop comic. The Gallagher of Punk, if you will.
