If they looking at the incident in it's totality, they should look at the 2 handed slash by McDavid as well that started this incident.

Watching all the TSN coverage of this series makes me think this is the first time any of TSN's Toronto staff have even watched a full Canucks game this year, other than the one game a year Vancouver plays in Toronto against the Leafs.

Lets ignore Nurse throwing Petterson head first into the boards which could have paralyzed him. Forget Kane slew footing Hughes so he cracks his skull on the ice one time and crashes into the boards another. Forget Ryan slashing Hoglander's nuts away from the play as he was standing with his back turned to him at the bench. Forget Kane kicking down on Zadorov's neck with his skate. Forget McDavid high-sticking Hughes so hard in his face that it split open his cheek from the impact, rather than cutting it open. Instead, lets focus on this extremely punishing cross-check that could've ended McDavid's life but didn't knock him out and didn't bruise him and had him pop right back up on his feet to stir more shit. Sounds perfectly fair to me.

Suspend McDavid for one game for slashing and suspend Souci 3 games for intentional attempt to injure. Come on Parros, you suspended O'Reilly for less.

As a Canucks fan I'd take that trade but McDavid would have to shoot someone on the ice to get a suspension.

It’s pretty simple. If your stick is propelled into someone’s neck, that’s extremely dangerous. Intent should be secondary similar to a high stick where a player is responsible for their own stick. Carelessness is not an acceptable excuse. The analogy is similar to “boarding”. If the act occurs and is severe enough, the state of mind is not relevant. If Donald Brashaer was trying to two hand McSorly on the shoulders but McSorly crouches it’s still a suspension if the stick hits the neck/head. By the way, the McDavid high stick in an earlier game should also have been a double minor. If Soucy isn’t suspended, then apparently we can cross check peoples necks/heads now.

@@El_Jim I haven't watched the series but if those events happened. Then yes, exactly like that. Unlike you, I don't have a rooting interest in the series cross checks like that Soucy one have to be punished. The refs don't have replay for every event on the ice but the Department of Player Safety does have replay and can use its powers to keep crap like that outta the game. I have my doubts they will, player safety is not really their highest concern.
