Awesome!!! Thank you.
This will really come in handy. Thanks for the instructional video
Thanks Phil 👍😁
A couple of tips. 7/16 bit is 11.11mm which is .39mm smaller than the 11.5mm/.453" RIM valve stem making a better tighter seal and you don't need to spend $10 on a bit you will only use for this. Valve puller tools also come in handy if you already have one to pull it through without worrying about damaging it with pliers. Also 20mm/.866" Long stems are shorter and have less clearance issues. Great vid through, straight to the point.

The drill bit 7/16 used didn’t work. That wasn’t a good tip. Too small for the valve to fit. Use what the guy says.

@@leexiong9962 I’ve done 20 of these with a 7/16s but and a valve stem puller with zero issues. If the valve stem you’re using is larger than 11.5mm/.453” then yes you will have an issue which is why I specified those dimensions in my post.
Good video topic Phil I did the same to all of mine . They work so mush better than hand pumping so much.
Converted 3 pump sprayers using your exact instructions (29/64ths indeed!) about an hour ago. Easy, peasy. Works perfectly. I used some Sil-Glyde (Silicone) lubricant on both the nipple and the bottle to aid in pulling it through the hole and seating properly. Like you, I found using a pair of Channellocks really helps! Thanks for the great tip and explanation.

Awesome! Seen this covered a few times randomly around the internet but NEVER with the very detailed and specific assembly parts list. Going to look for an affordable of a that long schrader valve for visual aestics.

Mind blown!
Use some silicone base grease to slide the valve through the hole Silicone grease would not affect rubber as petroleum base lubricant does, it corrodes rubber. Don’t use wd40 (Water Dissipation 40) it’s not a lubricant. It dissipates water, humidity, that’s what it does, after using wd40 you have to clean the parts and use some real lubricant if that’s what you want, to lubricate Plumbers grease is the one that you want. To check for leaks, mix soap-water, dish soap, foam it up and spread it around valve. If you see bubbles popping, that’s a leak I would doubt that you have a leak as the grease would help to avoid that

Actually, I'm not sure because I didn't look at the pressure gauge. I simply fill it until the safety valve pops but I think last time I saw it was maybe around 20psi.

Great mod. Can you do this mod for a 5litre? I live in a flat and want to clean my TTS (It's a small car so can do the foam by pump but need more power for water..) Thanks!

Hi. Yes you can. If it’s plastic you can do this.
Hi Miranda, has there been any long term issues with such a modification? Is this still something you would recommend?
@MirandaDetailing

Hi. I still use them to this day. Phone of them have failed.
Tip: before pulling the valve thru, spray a little wd40 or foaming glass cleaner on it. It’ll slide thru a bit easier. 😁

What about the cheaper HDX bigger garden sprayers from Home Depot? Do these styles have blowoff valves as well?

Awesome hack, i was wondering once filled with air to maximum if you can have enough pressure foam a car down without going to hand pumping?
@thedetailingworkshop2689

Hi. That really depends on the size of sprayer itself. Usually these small ones will do about half the vehicle.
Curious if this would void any warranty from factory? Also is Miranda a Firefly reference?
@thedetailingworkshop2689

Well I'm not worried about the warranty on spray bottles, but probably would void the warranty. Miranda is our last name. but Firefly is awesome!

Do you store air in your compressor or refill it every time you work on a car?
@thedetailingworkshop2689

Hi. My air compressor is always filled in the shop so I can use it at any given time.
Cheap alternative to a rechargeable sprayer
A little soapy water will help it slip in and will bubble if its leaking.

@thedetailingworkshop2689

REALLY? ever since I installed the valve on my small one it works great. the problem seems to be pumping them. they need constant pressure.
Do the same thing with tubeless bicycle tires lol
Pretty cool. How long does a charge of air last on that sprayer? 1 car? Hi wife.
@thedetailingworkshop2689
Жыл бұрын
That really depends on how you're using it. for a quick app rinse you can get all around one vehicle before you need to refill. but also if you fill the bottle with too much product there isn't enough room for the air and it needs to be filled more often. lots of variables on that one.
a little soap on the valve where it meets the plastic...will pull thru much easier

Is it a good idea to do this hack on a bottle without a pressure relief valve? Isn't there a danger of over-pressurisation and explosion if one over-pressurises the bottle?
