He seems to be relaxed any time his owner/father isn’t near him. The second his owner showed up (around the 7:30 mark) he goes back to hissing.

@@HFlame7there are definitely videos where he is calm around his owner. One where he is making biscuits in their lap and another where he’s head butting their leg. I think they tend to post the hissing videos more often because it gets views and comments the most though. They make more money from people arguing over the cat being unhappy

Caracals definitely use hissing as communication more than regular cats, it's just "what they do". They seem very protective of their buddies too.

@@JayTor2112 it's not 100% true. Besides what you have written above, Caracals are naturally very threatening and defensive cats and it's easy to make them unhappy, distressed, angry or threatened. Don't spread that claim "this is how they communicate" because many people may disregard their hissing thinking it's just moewing-like communication - while in fact, most of the time it's not like that.

Wenn man im Tierpark in Weilburg ( nur ein Beispiel) ist das nicht so mit dem fauchen und der Angst in den Augen vor der Hand die einen füttert. Den der sollte man Vertrauen.

@@devonsmith8891 The Maine Coon is submissive and tentative to the Caracal. In the wild, Caracals are predators and would see domestic/feral cats as potential prey. A wild animal is genetically wired to be a wild animal and can never be fully domesticated. The Caracal here, hisses and shows defensive behavior towards the owner, which is a huge red flag. Thank you for asking the question. I hope I answered it. :)

Hi To the Owner, I wanted to express concern over that orange/white cat being next to Pumba...Pumba hisses and I can see concern in the domestic cat(is the cat Izjuma?) Bruh what 😂 Cats that are bonded sometimes show sweet displays of affection toward each other, like grooming. They'll lick and bite each other, clean the other's fur, and spend a lot of time making sure the other cat is clean. This type of grooming is a good sign-it means your cats are friends. You don’t know shit about cats and it seems.

I adore cats and I had 5 (sadly down to 3 as they are all super elderly). Pumba is gorgeous, but that hissing would scare the living crap out of me. I know he's a wild cat breed, but yeah. I'd be petrified of him. He's really great with your other cat though, surprisingly. ❤

I don't believe in taking an animal out of the wild and trying to MAKE it domesticated. I pity the person who surprises Pumba on a bad day. There will be a very big ER bill for many, many stitches, or maybe even a funeral bill depending on the day and how bad a mood Pumba is in. Pumba needs to be re-trained to live in the wild and released back into his home habitat.
