Pulse rate | Circulation | Biology
The pulse is generated in an artery when its wall swells and contracts during heart beat. When the heart contracts the blood it contains is pumped out under pressure and this pressure wave travels through the arteries. It can be felt wherever the artery can be compressed against a bone. The pulse rate is the same as heart rate. It is measured in number of beats per minute.
