Hey Alex. The one thing that struck me the most about this video is how well you can retract your scapulae at the top of the pullup. Looking from the side, it's no coincidence that you got crazy thoracic extension too. Maybe in future pullup vids you can do a side-by-side shot of you doing pullups from the back/side. Keep up the good work brother.

Ohp and pullups all day
I like the quick delivery of this video. Have several things to take away and didn't have to listen to a longer format to get it. Longer format is cool too sometimes. Thanks for the info.
Thank you so much I can’t tell you how much I needed this video, added it to my “favorites” playlist and I can’t wait to start using these techniques tomorrow

I vouch for the thumb over grip. Stops my flexors getting to involved and inevitably fatiguing when my back still has plenty to give.

Alpha I’ve been doing 10x10 for 45 days straight because my back is my weakness. I did delts everyday aka side laterals 100-200 reps a day “15-20lb dumbbell. Everyday for 6 months and now my delts are my best body part. I believe pull ups and weighted pull ups are far more better than a pat pull down. Guys remember Alpha Destiny knows his shit!!! Thanks bro!

@@muneebanwar1982 I did this as well a few summers ago and my delts were popping, it only took three months to see a difference. I used to carry a fifteen around with me at the gym and do lateral raises between every set of every exercise. Also my traps got bigger somehow doing this as well, I might have been doing a little shrug every rep and accidentally grown those at the same time.

Yessir pull-ups are great. 1 of the best. Lat pull down is great too
I knew it! I always used the thumb up method, and calisthenics ppl keep telling me i was wrong doing it that way
With thumb over grip I can hang from the bar for as long as I want, thumb under and my grip starts giving after 5th rep, of course the fact that I'm at around 225lbs sure doesn't help but thumb over is literally a life hack for me.
Alex, you should try to beat David Goggins' pullup world record.

@alex20na

@@champ8288 Then why do you grease the groove only with high reps? Why don't you do weighted pull-ups? Pavel Tsatsouline (the guy who introduced the concept of greasing the groove to the world) said in a podcast that if your goal is to get to 20-25 strict pull-ups you don't have to go above 5 reps, ever. You can get to that level by purely training your strength, because strength helps in endurance (watch his interview/podcast with Tim Ferris). Do GTG with weighted pull-ups, and when 5 reps become easy, then increase the weight and start all over again. In your case don't get stronger with GTG because: - you don't rest enough - you work way too much (which A LOT of people do and you do it too because you said you do a "bunch" of half max sets....AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO A BUNCH). I never go above 5 sets per day when doing GTG, and I get A LOT of rest time between sets (1-2 hours minimum). - you don't do any weighted work. It's up to you to decide what you're doing wrong.
Thanks!!
Pullups, pushups and sit ups !! Gains all day every day 😎
I have always done thumb over grip in the past, but changed it like a year ago. Im training for the military so I've been doing pullups alot lately. Gonna try out the thumb over grip again and see if it can give me an extra rep or 2. Or if it just feels better now.
I usually do four finders to do pull ups.But hey imma try the new grip and see if it makes a difference
Amazing tips you are my biggest motivation in the gym lately !!
David Goggins, great guy.
Part 2, please 😉
Would love to try all of these, but first I need to get my grip strength up to par with my back. Arms give in way too fast for my liking, oddly enough they fatigue around the same time with or without added weights... Not sure why. Also, interesting to see that you're mixing up your music and camera angles.
Reverse banded pull ups, now that’s innovative!

The thumb over grip significantly takes out the bicep contribution to the pull up. Its a nervous system thing. The thumb inervates the bicep when flexing.
@otxoawolf9054
4 жыл бұрын
@420 EASY SATIVA by taking bicep out of picture emphasis switches to lats. There will always be some contribution from biceps but its greatly diminished when the thumb is not gripping in its natural position. It has to do with the way we're wired.
Quick question: i know the thumbover grip for pullups and muscle ups is the most biomedical method from my understanding and experience with climbing. As a pull for deadweight, can i get your feedback as to the thumbover grip for RDLs ? This would be a noobie question, due to my lack of understanding with the hook grip, i feel like a clean thumbover pull would be more efficient and less painful.
Hey Alex, how would you recommend including weighted pullups in your novice program? Replace pendlay rows? Or are weighted chins enough?
Hi Alex. Do you know how I can cure my elbow tendinitis? Any help will be much appreciated.

Can you make a video on how to get super strong abs what exercises
as a person who loves pull ups this is the shit
ever tried endurance calisthenics routines, like zef aka zakaveli does
How do you feel about the concept of effective reps? It seems to run counter to dynamic effort.
For Handstand pushups Pls :)
Hey alex quick question, can i impelement weighted pullups into your novice program or swap them out for an exercise.I am already decent at them
i have rough time to do full range pull ups ...
Hey I was wondering if pull ups are harder for taller people
Thanks Alpha Destiny - great video - will make good use of your advice. Watched the Vegan Gains Video about you BTW. He's got your back - awesome.
Hey Alex, do you have a slight case of scoliosis? Mine is pretty bad and I'm wondering if you had any experience with it? What are your thought on training with scoliosis?
David goggins man he’s a fuckin monster
Cool
What is your reccomendation on how many days a week to hit these?
For example if you want to get a superstrong back do you have to use progressive overload for bent over rows etc. And to increase performance to get the muscle bigger and stronger
Alex can I do pullup 10×10 daily with my PPL Routine. Big fan bro.
Reneisance man Alexander Leonidas 🎩
Bro I cant even do this many without the weight
Someone explain to me how to set up the chain on the belt to a loading pin with a Caribeener
What’s the name of the fella you mentioned that recommends the thumbs over grip please?
In a novice fase i’m doing wheigted chinups one time 2 Times a week and 1 time one. It’s better to do 3x5 o 3x8 3x5 it isn’t too low volume?
That is because your are using less bicep with thumb over and employing a larger muscle group hense more strength if you train in proportion.
Can anyone give me a good weighted chin/pull up program?
What about some push up training methods?
Banded pullups did a lot for my 1rm
