If he says a simple sentence he gets blamed for being too vanilla and mellow. Oh but let Vin Scully say something simple for what was a huge moment and people praise him for keeping it short and sweet? I don't love Joe but he's a decent announcer.

@@CROOKCOUNTY18 Bonds was certainly greater, but with a qualifier. I saw him play many times (I went to Cardinals games and Pittsburgh was in our division). In Pittsburgh and his first few years in San Francisco Bonds was slender and fast, around 175, 180 pounds. He was great, but nobody would rank him as highly as Pujols during this 10 year period. Only when he blew up with 50 pounds of PED-aided muscle did he turn into Superman (he got so much bigger it was laughable). If we ignore his obvious use of PED's, then I agree that Bonds was better. That said, Albert's body never changed during his first 10-12 years and he was never accused of PED use, so I'd give him the edge. He would definitely have benefitted from PEDs...his body began to fail around his 14th year. With a little miracle medicine he could have reached 800 HRs.

Albert Pujols back then was an absolute beast. But away from baseball he is an incredibly nice man, and does so much for charity, and loves to give back. A genuinely nice man, and wish him nothing but the best in the future. Just wish he could of worn a White Sox uniform. Nice dream!

As a lifelong cardinal fan growing up in Kentucky the only time I ever saw the cardinals were when they were playing the reds. I was lucky enough to see Albert Puljos send a solo shot into center field in one of the last games my dad took me too before he passed away. A great memory that I'll cherish forever. Thank you Albert.

My son and I, both Cardinals fans, were at a bar in L.A. watching along with a huge group of Rangers fans. After Albert's first home run the Rangers fans were grumbling "Don't pitch to him".. After the second HR they were screaming it. After the 3rd they stormed out of the bar.

I still get chills watching this and any video of his amazing talent. Besides leaving St Louis for $ he is the perfect role model for kids. Pujols Foundation, positive family man, great teammate and never in paper for drugs, punching a coach, hookers or guns. The steroid talk is unfounded and he still 30/100 after many injuries. This man will end up top 5 of all time. Right now he may be top 10 all time. Total package and a humble guy.

@@sonicthehedgehog3162 No, he didn't say that. And he didn't leave because he didn't like the cardinals, he left because it was the best move for the future of his career. He can barely even run around the bases today let alone play first base. He went to the AL so he could DH and have a longer career. If he stayed in St. Louis he wouldn't be playing right now.
