0:22 Gjógv (Faroe Islands)
2:33 Mykines (Faroe Islands)
5:10 Vík í Mýrdal (Iceland)
8:50 Flatey (Iceland)
9:44 Husavik (Iceland)
10:13 Bakkafjörður (Iceland)
On the Faroe islands we will be visiting Gjógv and Mykines. Mykines offers the largest Puffin colony of the Faroe islands but it is definitely a weather dependent trip associated with a bigger effort. It is certainly a wonderful island. Gjógv is a nice harbor / cliff area that is also suitable for people who do not like to hike larger distances to see puffins.
In Iceland we will be visiting Vík í Mýrdal with its amazing black beach and large Puffin cliff. You can take great pictures because the cliff has some structures that lead to rocks which are a bit advancing forward and are hosting already puffins. The puffins take off from these rocks and fly directly over your.
Flatey is located in Breiðafjörður - West Iceland. It has a totally different perspective for your puffin picture as the puffins live on small relatively flat islands and not on a huge cliff.
Husavik in Iceland offers several places to see puffins. We found it best to take a boat trip as the cliffs allow not for very nice shooting angles.
Bakkafjörður is a great place if you are out with a small lens or even an iPhone. It is a tiny rock and has protected passage ways and a photo hide allowing you to pass between the puffins and eider ducks. We found it a bit crowded due to its compact nature.
As always shot in 8,3 K on the Nikon Z9 and exported in a 4K HDR video.
