Very informative and well addressed video. I would request you to make a video for journal publication also. Many Bangladeshi students/ sometimes faculties also go for easy going predatory journals which never have Scopus/SCI indexing and carry ZERO value. This is so frustrating that they are giving priorities to quantity over quality. Since so many students are following you, I think you need to address this issue.

I am an executive officer for 3.5 years in a private company in the "finance & accounts" department. I completed my BBA (3.14) and MBA (3.50) in accounting from the National University of Bangladesh. I would like to do PhD in Finance but I have no research experience or publication. So, what steps should I take to get my work published in the field of Finance? It may take the next two years to get a score on GMAT and IELTS. I have two years on my hands to do something extra. I taught full-time in a private school for 20 months. Overall, I have a long time (over 14 years) of teaching experience till now in (accounting, finance, economics, statistics, english and general mathematics at the classes 9th to graduate level) along with my studies and job.

Dear Md Shoag, In many cases, they will retain the money even if your paper is not published. Just because they let you submit a paper, does NOT mean it has been accepted yet. They will email you to let you know if they have accepted your paper. Hope it helps!

Dear Maksudur Sabbir, Having publications is usually not a "requirement" to get into PhD programs. Even without publications, you could get into PhD programs. However, having publications will drastically increase the outlook of your profile. It will make you a more eligible candidate for funding amongst various other students throughout the world. That is one of the best "rewards" of having good publications!

Dear News Line, In answer to your questions - 1. Yes, you can get a job in USA after PhD. 2. No, you do not have to return to Bangladesh. 3. Getting a job is similar everywhere internationally. You have to be able to market yourself properly to prospective employers. The ability to procure a job is entirely upto each individual person. So it is really difficult assign a "possibility" in this aspect. Hope we were able to answer your questions adequately!

Dear Touhidur Rahaman, You definitely have to pay their fees. However, a lot of conferences accept online presentations. You can email them of your intended method of attending, and the conference agencies would answer your question accordingly. Hope it helps!

Stay 100 meters away from these predatory journals. A journal without scopus indexing has no value. Publishing in any scopus indexed journal is an arduous task (I would say almost impossible without any supervisor). Try to publish in conference proceedings. This is more feasible.

Dear Helpmate, Publishing journal articles is extremely difficult, hence we advised going for conference proceedings. Publishing in fake / predatory journals will decrease your academic profile rather than enhancing it. Hope it helps!

@Helpmate Try to find the suitable journal for your paper in Scimago website. They have some good filter to find out the journal in a particular field. Then crosscheck weather the journal's name is in the BEALL'S LIST OF POTENTIAL PREDATORY JOURNALS or not. Finally do check the journal has the scopus indexing or not. Follow this 3 criteria. There are still lots of good journal where you can publish your work without any cost.

Dear Murgi, No, conferences usually do not provide attendance / travel costs. Some conferences do; however they are not too many in number. Many conferences allow online presentations. It is a very good option if you want to attend international conferences without leaving your house! The COVID - 19 situation has increased the number of online presentations. We will recommend you to look for online conferences in case attendance expense is inconvenient to you. Hope it helps!

Please let me know what value do articles published in undergraduate journals (e.g. Michigan Journal of Economics, Berkeley Undergraduate Journal) carry in grad school applications?

Not at all! Conferences and conference publications are highly respected too! However, please check with your teachers and seniors about the "standard" of the conference before proceeding to publishing / presenting there. Just like fake journals, there are fake conferences too! Hope it helps!
