It is so inspiring to see academics like sir osama who have a broad knowledge base and a deep understanding of complex issues. The way he connects the dots and links bits and pieces of information from different disciplines and always supplements his answers with stats, credible authors and case studies is so eye-opening.
Yes, there’s a need to overhaul the bureaucratic structure and rather than to reduce the number, efficiency should be prioritised. Due to a dearth of financial resources, bureaucracy is reluctant to build capacity for ingenious policymaking and, as is evident, every other successful project in Pakistan is implemented through technical as well as financial support of multilateral institutions. I am not of the view of the limited government but rather a bit of rationalization (by changing the structure) and making it more efficiently workable is what is the demand of the time.
