This guy loves to talk, More power to him. We need independent voices like him. I don't agree with a lot of what he says but he has every right to say it.

I notice most of Fisk's lectures are 90% identical. I didn't read any of his books but I suspect he simply narrates one of his books and adds his analysis of recent events to it.

+Rain Maker yeah, you're not wrong. on that note, it's probably more worth your time to read him than to watch/listen to him - in his books, the analysis comes with fuller and richer quality and without the repetition. also, i think it's a broader trend. every public intellectual from whom i've listened to multiple audio/video speeches, it's been the case that they give the same spiel with minor topical modifications. in their defense, i imagine writing a new lecture for each locale would be exhausting and unfeasible, so it ends up being about the same situation that stand-up comedians have. anyways, The Great War for Civilisation is totally worth the read.

+Rain Maker Notice that 90% of what we do is the same: invade or subvert a society to rob and/or control them. The rest is simply adaptation to the current circumstances. ;)

oh rain maker how you're wholly, and quite literally incorrect. Lecture tours, are just that, tours centered around a central topic.This one just happens to be about ISIS, which probably amounts to .2% of his material. I'm only 200+ pages into The Great War for Civilization, and the density of it is amazing. The detail that goes into his reporting is second to none, he exposes so many blatant contradictions between government rhetoric, and realities on the ground.. Mr. Fisk is a unique journalist in today's world, and these lectures do not reflect the depth of knowledge this man possesses. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Great War.

Read The Great War For Civilization. Such a immensely detailed amazing book from the Soviet intervention of Afghanistan, The Iraq war, Palestine, and the Armenian Genocide. When you go on speech tours it's around a central topic, so it is likely that many of his speeches are similar

I have not, even in his interviews with native Arabic speakers he doesn't seem to use it. It's probably for print interviews and to facilitate making living in Beirut easier.

Maybe but he should be speaking it after 30 years in middle east, he passed half of his life in the region. My mother who is from cezch republic learned it after 10 years living in syria lattakia
