Central government has implemented a new law to take stringent actions against those leaking exam papers for educational and job-related tests. The “Public Examinations Prevention of Unfair Means Act 2024” came into effect on June 21, 2024, also known as the Exams Paper Leak Act 2024.
Under this law, individuals involved in leaking exam papers can face a hefty fine of up to one crore rupees. Additionally, they may also be subjected to a severe prison sentence of up to ten years.
The central government has introduced these strict measures to curb the activities of those who jeopardize the future of students and job aspirants by leaking exam papers. This move comes in the wake of recent national-level exam paper leaks, including NEET, UGC NET, and CSIR NET, which caused considerable distress to the government.
According to this act, strict actions will be taken against anyone who leaks exam questions or answers, assists candidates in cheating, tampers with computer networks, conducts fake exams, or issues fake admit or rank cards. The government also holds the authority to confiscate the assets of those who engage in such activities in an organized manner.
From now on, cases related to exam paper leaks will be registered under this act, with penalties including fines of up to one crore rupees and imprisonment ranging from five to ten years.
