Thank you to all the Travellers who helped this courageous lady. The Travellers understood only too well what it felt like to be ostracised from society. ❤
Please speak to Diane again. The abrupt ending was unforgivable for such a lady. She is more wonderful than any ‘celebrity’. Thank you.
These catholic magdalena nuns of these laundries are the biggest sinners themselves by torturing these women

As a Catholic, it's just so shameful. How did these nuns think they were helping, let alone being kind and living their faith?!
It’s hard to believe the suffering that a little girl can endure. Diane is the picture of courage and grace.

It's not the church it's the men and women nuns
She got to experience both sides of humanity. The vile and evil acts endured by the Nuns and the kindness of Strangers as she escaped the laundry rooms.
What a beautiful and strong woman Diane is. Well balanced and intelligent.❤
My god so many people failed this woman in her childhood. What a strong lady to survive these mysogonistic times at the hands of vile people who should have shown her more humanity and empathy.
I love travellers, they have such a great spirit and understanding of community. And it's so true, men and women are like wings of one bird, one without the other can't work.
I had read about the Irish nuns Just awful what people do to each other. What a lovely lady. Could listen to her all. day xxxx
A courageous lady and the travellers were so kind.
Ur inner strengh is powerful❤ My granny was born in a work house in Armagh ,she was made of the same stuff ❤❤❤❤love
And travellers get such a bad rep ,.god bless them for helping her, especially considering they are quite religious, god bless you both. 2 very brave young girls

Im so glad it was the travelling community who took care of you on your travels , god guided you to those earth angels to make sure you were safe ❤ thank you for telling your story you are an absolute legend ❤
What a beautiful person. So strong and inspiring.
Diane, you are a star. ALL YOUNG WOMEN need to hear about your horrendous experienced so they do not take their own emancipation for granted. Take care Diane. You are terrific.
Now Diane is what I call a real Woman , she could teach all the screaming little cowards a thing or two and proper order , the people making the most noise are just on a band wagon of what they think they ought to think to fit in , it is possible to overcome the most horrific happenings with the right attitude, Well done Diane , you are a Lady..

Remarkable person. I wish she had not been cut off at the end. Such compassion still in saying everbody is equal. Special emphasis, women's and children's rights need to be respected.

You are a remarkable woman. I’m so sorry you were taken from your foster family and sent to that convent. To think you walked such a distance as a young child when you escaped shows an inner strength most people don’t have. I’m glad you meet good people along the way who were kind to you. I must say you look very well for your age and I hope life is being good to you now. You’re a lovely lady and thank you for sharing your story xx

I am now 88years of age At 4years of age my mother died, my father put my sister and myself in a convent. in Liverpool called Leyland school run by sisters of charity who were so wicked we were constantly beaten and abused Listening to this ladies story reminds me of an incident with me, like her we planned to run away I was fourteen at the time, there were twenty of us, I finally found my aunts house the police came and took us all back to the police station, the sister superior was informed she said all the girls çould go back except me, the reason being I had family, most of the other girls had nobody, I found out a few years later they were almost torched having to kneel for three days no food or water 😢

I'm sure that every minute they spent on their knees they thought of you and were delighted that at least you got away im sure that gave them great strength and hope to know you had got away. Dont feel bad that you did and they didn't ..is there anywhere online you might find any of the girls again to see what happened to them if any escaped. If you wanted any help id gladly help you if I can although I'm not great at computers to be honest and I hope there are people who could help you find them. No doubt they also wonder what ever happened to the girl who got away!

Just horrible. Always the girls / woman. All we hear about today is the lives of bitter blacks. Demanding money For a life that was nothing as bad that these poor girls. where put through 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
I started learning about this before I had children and it hurt my heart, now having 3 little children my heart hurts even more.
This is extreme abuse done by the Catholic church and there is a movie about this. I was also experiencing this type of PTSD so I support and pray for survivors
What a fantastic lady,

wow. Those laundries were crazy sick. Those crazy nuns.
GOD BLESS YOU DIANE! YOU CHOSE YOUR BATTLES WISELY.... ❤❤
I am very sorry U had to go through what you did. It makes me very angry that they had taken you away from your foster family to go to that Magdalene Sisters Laundries. The nuns treated you so badly and Theresa too. They will have to give an account to God for their cruel actions toward U and all the other women survivors. We need to remember that there are only a few a bad apples out of a barrel of good apples. There are some very kind priests and nuns too. God works out everything for our good. The circumstances God put people in so we can compassion for others. These Magdalene Sisters were hurting so badly inside that they hurt the girls in their care plus the priests and Christian brothers. They were forced into that calling by family. No every one is called to be a nun or priest. God bless you Diane for your story!
Well done Dianne.
You are an amazing Lady with such a huge heart . I'm glad you have your own beautiful family today ....I am so sorry this happened to you , heartbreaking 🇨🇦
Diane you are a true Champion
A remarkable woman, you know it’s very sad that because of a few bad apples (which you’ll get in every sector around the world) Everyone is pretty much tarred with the same brush. There are many good members in the clergy, and just like the travellers. It’s very sad that still writing with the left hand is frowned upon, I remember having to have a quiet word with my youngest daughters teachers for trying to force them too to write with their right hand. That was eighteen years ago, I hope it’s different today. x

You're remarkable Diane, 🙏🏽 We're blessed to have your insight.
My wee Mammy gave birth to my sister in Blackrock in the 1930s. In Edinburgh in 1977 an Irish girl gave birth to her daughter the same day my daughter was born, and left to return to Ireland without her. She came from Ireland to a convent for ' poor fallen women'. In the late 1970s!!!! Shame on the Church. Shame on the men and women who declared others to be sinners. My God would never treat women like this so the Priests and Nuns and "Holy" Catholic families should get on their knees and beg forgiveness. 🤬 One family in my parish who were so highly thought of and friends with the Cardinal brought their grandson up from England to be baptised so he would get into his lical Catholic school. The child's mother hadn't been to Mass in years, and didn't bother having her boy baptised because she didn't believe in the Church. Aye, intil it was obvious the Catholic school was the best school for miles . 🤬🤬

@Trish Traynor I had family in Ireland with the name ‘Traynor’. My parents were Irish and I was brought up in care in Scotland.
I know you recorded this years ago. I hope, Dianne that you you are doing well, and able to read this. How you have survived and even have enough love to help those in need is an inspiration. I am also thankful that despite the struggles and abuse you endured, you have been able to maintain trust in the goodness of God. It saddens me that sometimes those who represent God to the world, such as those who are in ministry, turn people away from God by their actions and abusiveness. I am glad that did not happen to you. You are amazing.
I really like this lady and how she told her story. God Bless you Diane

@@epart513 Yes, that’s true. There are many wonderful people in this denomination. Many are being taught that judging is wrong. The use of judgement is being taken out of context. We, as a people, judge everyday in order to stay safe and do as God wants us to. When we are judging in the way that is against God it is when we judge if a person is going to heaven or hell. We are then judging in a way that is expressed in the Bible that we have no right to pass judgement on any individual, only God has that knowledge. To my understand we are to continue to judge what is right and wrong for us individually. But, we are not to pass judgement on someone else and if they are going to heaven or hell. I was speaking more to the Catholic church system. It is too old and needs to be revised to keep all of their parishioners safe; as it is, it’s a haven for perpetrators that fall prey on the church family. Churches need to be held accountable for their wrongful actions, then hopefully they will change them. For century’s this church has been allowed to use and abuse the innocent amongst their own ranks. Shame on them. Being in denial about what this church has done to innocent people does not help any of us.
Great woman
So many similarities with my late mothers story, she was also born in the County home in enniscorthy, industrial school and magdalen laundry followed, sadly she didnt escape, but was discharged into domestic service, emotionally ruined, when she was 26, Diane is just remarkable 😢

What a wonderful lady. I would love to meet her. So brave at such a young age. The Catholic Church have a lot to answer for but it is like a secret society.
An amazing woman....❤
What a savage nation we are. What made us give children to people we never knew and would never know, and would not know how they treated the most vulnerable of beings on earth. This lady is beautiful, compassionate and articulate. The state and our communities damaged her and thousands of innnocents Why did the Irish allow themselves to be conned by men in black. In the 60's I was a child trapped under the shroud of catholic mists and folklore, but I was able to tell my teachers I did not believe in a god.
The nun, Sister Mary Hulbert, in Kindergarten tried to make me right handed as well, Sisters of Mercy i think they were. They'd catch you and tell you to put your hand out, not palm up but knuckles up; then they'd give you a wack with the ruler. Soon i'd forget, use my left hand and get another wack. They never did break me but i'm f'd up to this day. They call it dyslectic today but it hadn't been invented yet back then, you were just f'd up and you tried to hide it the best you could. I still try to hide. It comes out that you're slow. Keep your mouth shut and try not to be noticed.

What a beautiful lady God Bless her 🙏 ❤️ 💕 so sad what her mother did to her ,i just call her evil.
I remember in 5th class in school in ireland in the late 70s we had to stand up and read verses from the bible and if you mispronounced anything the headmaster punched you in the face. The poor chap next to me had a stammer he got beaten senseless. I heard some years later that he sufferred so bad from ptsd he took his own life. Of course the evil headmaster was a revered and respected "pillar of the community".
If there is a hell, the cruel nuns and priests will be going straight there. Monsters.
The Catholic Church has a lot to answer for
The people of the traveling community were very kind but they were lovley people back in those days my father lived in the country and every summer the travellers would come or thinker's are they were called by them selves they didn't mind been called thinkers my dad loved when they called they help by grandfather with odd jobs on the land and they teach my father their language called the gammon he loved them dearly they thought him how to fish and hunt and how to respect the land they sing and dance and their children were very intelligent far more intelligent then settled children and their children were never taken from them ,my father always feared if he missed days in school the inspector would send him to a boys home so he always had to go to school he wished he was a thinker boy because they were left be free and happy he loved them dearly and always had the greatest respect for them god bless them thinkers they saved that girls life that is for sure without their help she would have never made it thank be to God 🙏
