the sweetness of Pt nikhil Banerjee's playing is etheral, almost divine on the other hand pt ravishankar, as well as ustad vilayat khan are, in my humble opinion, very 'earthy', full of imposed trappings which make their presentations more 'showy' and extroverted, probably because both of these greats have been far more worldly wise than an 'introverted' presentations of d self-effacing pt. nikhil banerjee i salute ravishakarji and vilayat khansaab, while offering my obesience to nikhil banerjee

One cannot compare the two greats - they are incomparable greats in their own rights- If one compares Pt Ravi Shankar's offerings to bunch of red roses, Pt Nikhil Banerjee's would remind one of a bunch of Rajanigandha flowers..........never again would such artistes walk this earth..............we are blessed such were born on this earth............in this great country of ours !!

Thanks to Shankar for introducing this lovely music to us. I do listen to his music every day. I've just enjoyed a similar ragg or ra-ga by Shankar, this one's a bit smooth. I liked it as well. (Gr Britain Mon 16 Dec 2019 2226)

What does Pancham se gara means ? Can somebody please explain this ?

Pancham is treated as SA and raga gara is played in that octave. Basically octave is shifted. Similarly if we play gara with SA shifted to Madhyam, we will have Madhyam se Gara. Hope that makes sense.
