Been trying to get rending shockwave for days on my trauma staff

great run as always, but one thing bothers me. Is the knife instead of the saber just your preference for the style of play or is it better in terms of statistics? I want to understand the choice.

I like the knife, duelling sword 4 is so overtuned it's impossible to compete with You could abuse bleed and rending but what's the point on staff psyker

do enemy type damage perks only apply to enemies classified as that type? if I hit a bulwark in the shoulder/arm, will my carapace damage perk apply? (can't find this answer anywhere online)

Yes. Body parts with different armour type will receive respectivr damage. This could create a funny situation where sometimes going for weakness points isnt the best way to deal damage. For example maulers have carapace on head but flak everywhere else, which means unless your attack has good carapace damage its almost always better to just do body shots, if only damage is concerned. I have a chain axe that will not one shot scab bruisers with a headshot, but body shot does just that.

My assumption is mainly to get the 15 toughness node after it, but since he uses BB and Knife he gets a decent amount of Head Shots for the talent to not be a complete waste.

Gives BB better breakpoint and faster cast speed. Also no peril cost. Its imo essential if youre using bb more than just a utility tool.

I personally go for the Warp Siphon-Crit-Blazing Spirit route for DPS, but this build allows you to kill Crushers with Staff and have a better BB so this build has it's upsides

toughness has become exponentially more valuable with the instant strips being gone but I don't think there's a definite correct answer and it's going to depend on how you engage with the game and how much you think about and use your toughness

Holding a staff with a maxxed out quell speed stat will always quell peril faster than while holding a force sword or while using your blitz (brainburst, assail, smite). You can also quell peril 30% faster by picking the 'Solidity' talent in the talent tree. Solidity stacks with the quell speed bonus from the staff.
