This album means so much to me, especially “Drown.” Got me through some of the darkest times of my life, showed me that I wasn’t alone in my feelings. I remember listening to this album for the first time at like 16/17yrs old in my basement and feeling so completely understood and comforted. That was 8 years ago and these songs are still my favourite and will always have a special place in my heart. Crazy to think Tyler was only 17 in his parents basement writing these masterpieces and not knowing that he would be helping so many people through them!

That song still makes me want to cry and I've heard it so many times since I've played all of it on piano. Still hits me just as hard as it did the first time

I love whenever Tyler screams cuz there's always a purpose behind his screams and the way he puts emphasis on certain words, like you said. He is a creative genius.

so excited to see someone react to NPI. he was so young when he wrote this stuff it amazes me. he definitely had a tough journey surrounding religion. you'll see quite a lot of religious angst to go with the epic teen angst. its comforting to see where he "started" emotionally and where he is now.

Tyler said once that rapping is when the words come first, rhythm comes when the beat came to him first. And some rhythms and words still don’t have matches and are unheard by us.

Love how you just vibe out, you show how you really feeling and aren't afraid to just jam out no matter what.

Very good reaction as always! Tyler wrote this album between approximately 17/18 years old and he did everything in his basement except for some guitars that were played by Nick Thomas, friend of Tyler and member of Twenty One Pilots from 2009 to 2011, it is impressive what he did at such an age early, without any recording studio or budget, just letting out everything he felt through his art, very few manage to do that, for that same reason some songs don't sound very perfect in the mix environment but I still love them and I fully appreciate. I can't wait for you to upload your reaction to "Save" or "Prove Me Wrong" because of the change that Tyler has had, since I know his music and history I have felt him as an inspiration in life, in how he can change his own life and that of others, although Twenty One Pilots is famous Tyler is very undervalued and I hope in the future he will be even more recognized *again sorry for the long text and my native language is not English, it is Spanish so sorry if there is something misspelled*

Tyler was a great basketball player in high school and turned down the opportunity to play college basketball to focus more on music - he did attend Ohio State for a couple years while still working on his music A lot of their earlier concerts were around Ohio State - his mom would literally walk around campus to try to get people to go watch him play After Josh joined, they were discovered by major record labels a few years later because they kept selling out the most popular concert venue at Ohio state where many bands have come through

I was watching your other twenty one pilots videos and thought “man if he thinks self titled is deep, wait til he hears No Phun Intended.” Then I saw this. Super pumped to see your reaction!!!

MY FAVORITE ALBUM. The raw truth. Honesty. Pain. Feelings and emotions.

Your reference to “screaming at an empty sky” is a recurring theme. From Levitate off of Trench, Tyler says “a curse from you is all I’d need right now.” He wants an answer so bad he would even take a curse from God. It’s also found in the Self Titled album first song “Implicit Demand For Proof”, where he implicitly demands for God to prove his existence.

it's been over ten years but don't think for a moment that to be washed or drowned or saturated or desaturated (as the current era prescribes) carry less weight now than when he was 18. there's this allegedly chinese proverb that goes 'the best time to plant a tree is ten years ago. the second best time is today.' tyler planted his ten years ago. also "and he can't fall down anymore cause he's already on the floor' (2008) = 'tried. flat on his back but he still heard the directive' (2021)

He was actually going to be and to quote the interviewer "you were not going to be an international pop star but an internationally renowned basketball player" he had a full ride athletic scholarship to an incredible university and probably would have wound up in the NBA but to quote Tyler Joseph lol "Alot of the plan was to get a scholarship playing basketball and that was actually the case and I decided to play the piano instead" I think he was 17 when he did this album. All self taught he blows my mind. The last two lines of this song kill me "and my own two hands will start bleeding and then they will lower me in to a hole in the ground". Suicide he said he was going to commit suicide.
