    Hi!!! Thanks for your video, it’s really informative for people who plans to study it!!! ❤️ I have a question, when you finish studying Psychology, can you specialise in different kinds of psychology, for example could be forensic or criminal?

  • @dominikakalinowska

    @dominikakalinowska

    2 жыл бұрын

    You would have to study a master's in something specific first. Also, in the UK you cannot really "be" a criminal psychologist only after masters. I think you would need to do a PhD to be able to call yourself that. It is a long path. I would focus on experience, rather than a title :)

    @@dominikakalinowskait’s called forensic, not criminal psychologist. As far as I know, you can specialise by doing masters degree in Health, Forensic, occupational and sports psychology. You can also specialise as a psychotherapist by doing clinical doctorate or a master level qualification as a cbt therapist, pwp worker, Clinical associate in psychology or high intensity worker.

    thanks for your information. I would like to know if there is any difference between the distance- learning and campus learning courses in psychology. I would like to study a convention psychology course but really struggle if it is better to learn on campus. Will it be the same qualification in the eyes of the employers? Can I still get competitive chance to further study in psychology if I finish the distance learning one? Thanks much!

  • @dominikakalinowska

    @dominikakalinowska

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi, if the course is accredited with BPS (British psychological society), then no matter if you do this online, or on-campus - this will be the same degree. It is recognised the same. If employers are looking at your CV they look at your work experience as well, same as any other things you have done during uni (societies, internships, volunteering) and they are all easier to do when you are actually on campus. However, these 2 differ from each other greatly when it comes to actual learning. And it only depends on you and your circumstances which one will suit you best. For example, I would not see myself getting into a distance-learning course as I know myself and I know it would be hard for me to learn, I would not meet people as you do on campus, life on campus is so much different! But, if you have additional responsibilities, children, you are caring for someone, or you don't live close to uni, then you might consider distance learning as it is super flexible. It really depends on you, your personality, circumstances, budget, and the possibility of moving out for studies. Good luck with everything :)

  • @dominikakalinowska

    @dominikakalinowska

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey, it all depends on where are you in your educational journey, and whether you have already done undergraduate studies. Doing a child psychology master's would help greatly - some unis offer 12 months master's (for example Anglia Ruskin University). Then you would have to get work experience. What I would advise is to contact and connect with people who are already doing what you want to do - through your old university, future university, career office, LinkedIn, or your own search and emails and just find out what steps you need to take to get there. Google search should be your first move! :) So start looking for other people's journeys, how they got there, what unis they finished. You can be a counselor first, way easier and you will get experience. Then you can build on that and become a child psychologist with more qualifications and licenses. Great info here: uk.indeed.com/career-advice/finding-a-job/how-to-become-child-psychologist

    Hi there, both are worth it! However they are both very different. Msc in psychology is giving you a very general psychology perspective. But clinical child psychology is directed into child psychology which is more targeted course. Which one do you feel drawn to the most? Don't think about the university, or the course - where do you see yourself in 5 years? Do you see yourself working with children or maybe the general course would be more beneficial if you don't know what to do yet? Personally I would choose something more general if you are not sure what to do and still searching. But if you already feel like child psychology will give you more value for your future plans, choose that.

  • @dominikakalinowska

    I would also consider cities you will be living in, especially if you are coming from abroad. Think about your non negotiables, where do you want to live, do you want to have broader social circle? Want to live close to London? Do you want quiet and peace or busy city? Essex is different to Cambridge too so maybe look at the map and decide where you want to live too. This is a big factor as you will be studying for 1-2years depending on the course and it might affect your decision:)

Jeśli włożysz w szukanie dobrej pracy energię, to ją znajdziesz.

    Hi there, Answer to your first question: Here is the link to the 2023 rankings for psychology degrees: www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/student-advice/blog/top-10-unis-to-study-psychology-2023 Up to you if you will be guided by the ranking, but there is way more to consider than just rankings. 2nd question: Yes you can get a job after a Master's, it all depends on you. It is important to have some additional work experience whilst studying so you can stand out from the crowd which will graduate with you, and be your "competition" in a way. I have recorded more videos on job search and how to get more from the university experience, so watch them as they will guide you further. Good luck!

    @@satyakeerthana7859 The first step you would take is to get the conversion course in Psychology. It is a Master's degree, but those who don't have a bachelor's in psychology can take it to start their journey with psychology (if university admissions will accept your bachelor's). All universities vary and have different admissions requirements, so for now, choose up to 3 universities you want to go to, then contact them and ask whether your background will fit with the Conversion Course Masters, or if you should do a bachelor's in psychology. Then you will know what to do for sure. Also, if you have some experience in psychology, like coaching, mentoring, voluntary work, caretaking, or anything related to mental health or psychology will make your application to university stronger.
