Psycho-Cybernetics By Maxwell Maltz (Book Summary)

According to the idea behind psycho-cybernetics, your mind operates on cybernetic principles; you may program your mind to attain success and happiness in the same way that you would program a machine to produce the desired outcomes. In order to improve your self-awareness, boost your confidence, and improve your chances of success, Maxwell Maltz offers a number of strategies.

Just spit balling based on my own research. Your self-image influences what you do, HOWEVER you directly influence that self-image with your actions and habitually do. So if you want to at least think of yourself differently, then you have to figure out who you want to be and act like that consistently.

To everyone watching this, please read the book. It's not like others books that can be summarized in 20 minutes video, I found every sentence meaningful and important. A lot is left out in the video.

@@nataliiateteruk585 as I said, I’ve found this book very meaningful and it’s impossible to list all important things from that book in a single comment.

@@nataliiateteruk585 The author talks about relaxation a lot, which Keynote knowledge barely touches on. When we are switching tasks, we bring over the emotions from out last task into this new task. Your brain needs a way to "reset" the emotional state, as to avoid disastrous consequences. An example the author gives is that he is a plastic surgeon, so if he is going from an angry phone conversation straight to surgery, he will bring this anger over, and it will make him perform worse. He cited statistics about how a large percentage of car crashes happen after a blowout fight with a man's wife or boss, and I've personal experienced driving more recklessly when I am already angry. His solution to this problem is to do a relaxation visualization. Picture a time and place when you were truly relaxed. He recommends visualizing sitting on a rocking chair inside a room in your childhood home, overlooking the beach. I found it more effective to visualize myself sitting on a reclining chair outside of a pool in Florida with nobody else around me. To make this visualization effective, it must be vivid-- feel the sun on your skin, the sounds of the birds chirping, the scent of the ocean, and anything else to make it feel more real. Use this visualization when you are going from one important task to another in order to not carry over the emotions and feelings. He used it before doing surgery, and transitioning from doing surgery to going to a social event, as the focus needed for surgery is not equipped for making conversation with others, you will just act like a zombie. This is one of many things not covered in the video in the book and perhaps not even the most significant. There are other exercises he talks about and lots of religious ideas and philosophy that simply can't be covered in a 12 minute video.
