Great problem to have!

Psycho is one of the most influential horror films of all time. Even the original Friday, the 13th borrowed from it but with the psychotic mother and son relationship reversed.

Mine is on its way. Psycho II is the only one of the sequels I’ve seen and that was ages ago. At the time everyone thought it was blasphemous to do a sequel to such a classic but I was impressed. Looking. forward to watching all of them.

Psycho 2 is still my favorite and the first one i saw. Back in the early 80s on vhs. That and American Werewolf were 2 of the first scary movies i saw

Mine is in the mail from Orbit. I can't wait to watch them all again. Psycho III in particular had some excellent/creative lighting/direction that I'm sure looks fabulous in 4K.

The Bates Motel TV series is surprisingly good. Like most shows, it has too many seasons, and too much filler but otherwise I thought it was fantastic.

Nice overview my brother - I just finished watching all 4 of these from my Arrow boxset. All were first time watches for me. Heard a lot about and saw clips from Psycho but it was so enjoyable to watch for the first time. And all 3 sequels are VERY good. If I had to rate 1 is by far the best, and for me it’s a toss up between 2 and 4. The background story of Norman Bates and what his mother did to him was so intriguing. 3 was good but I’d put it last, but a strong last. Either way…definitely another strong release from Arrow.

Actually it is pretty likely that we will see individual releases of the sequels. This is often the pattern with their sets now. They do a collection as a Limited Edition and then maybe a year of so later the individual releases do come. This happened with the Hellraiser Blu-ray boxset and the Battle Royale Limited Edition 4k Boxset that had 1&2. The first Battle Royale got its individual release a while ago and the second film now has its individual release out. This will also likely happen with the Hellraiser 4k 1-4 set that is coming in October. But yeah not for a while but it is pretty likely as it is what they usually do.

I know the first is a classic but 2 and 3 are my favorites of the four. I especially love all the dark humor in them. Interesting detail, I remember hearing that 4 was intended to be a sequel to the original. Without 2 and 3 having happened.

Totally right Ken, Arrow have killed it with this release!! It's such a gorgeous looking set! And the transfers are simply stunning! Got mine from the Arrow Store in the UK at £55. Like you said, worth every penny!! And ahh, if ONLY The Exorcist had been done by Arrow or Second Sight, that would have been awesome! But...we still have that very special Bible Deluxe set coming so still excited :) Great review!

Great review thanks! I ordered both blu-ray and 4K box sets and can't wait to get them. I remember about half a year ago I hoped that arrow would do the 3rd movie and my jaw dropped when the box set was announced. I also consider the second movie almost as good as the first, I really like the 3rd one, but I remember not liking the 4th one much, but maybe I'll appreciate it more now. I think the fourth one didn't have art cards because it was not a theatrical release and those cards seem to be based on the lobby cards.

Thanks for the info and links to this set Ken. I ordered through Grindhouse while watching your review. It will be a double dip for me on the original Psycho in 4K but this is definitely worth it with the addition of the three sequels all very well done and underated IMO. Hope I recieve them to watch before Halloween this year. I wouldn't have found the set without your review. Ironically enough I spent over two hours yesterday going through 4K titles on Amazon and Best Buy not finding anything I didn't already have or really wanted.

I read somewhere that that iconic cover/poster image for “Psycho II” actually originated as a joke image for a holiday card amongst the crew and staff. Someone then realized that it would actually be a pretty cool marketing image.

Might grab the new boxset arrow has announced with the sequels since this is just the universal release of 1 and might get the hellraiser set as well

What’s the fan consensus on the sequels? I adore the first film and always been curious to check out the others but assumed due to the lack of fan fare that they were just cash grabs.

On the art cards....I saw another youtube reviewer reviewing this set....they were also missing art cards on the last card. So I am assuming there were no art cards for the 4th movie Ken. Take care...and have fun watching!!!😀

I think the reason Psycho 4 is lacking art cards is because it was a television production and not a theatrical film, so there aren't lobby cards and production stills to reproduce.

I have a comment this is about grindhouse they have never issued it in America in the theater version I’ve been looking for it. is doing a edition only of 1000 Australian all three movies in Blu-ray.

No art cards for 4 since I do not believe it was ever released theatrically. It was a tv movie.

@@994pt4 actually it's a minor problem in a really great box that otherwise. The scans are amazing Universal did a good job there. At least the 2.0 track is available in sounds great it's just a bummer the 5.1 sound mix is kind of unlistenable

I’m shocked that Universal let them use their version of the first movie. The extras, the scan, everything. Also, while I love this set, I watched part II today and I don’t see much of a benefit of it being 4K. Still a great set though

PSYCHO II is the inferior of the 4 films. It’s pretty silly. I was upset that Vera Miles’ character is not quite the same character as she was in the original. Part III is better than part II. Part IV was a very nice surprise upon initial viewing. I find part IV right up there with parts I and III.

@@midlevelmedia. Nah. She was likable in the original and we felt for her and her sorrow and pain. In part II, she was scheming, unlikable and quite nasty. I felt more sorry for Norman than anyone else. And the fact that she gets her own daughter involved is just ridiculous.

Not sure if anyone knows but Olivia Hussey's daughter is the young girl that played Michael and Selene's daughter in Underworld Awakening...She was the Hybrid creature. Her name is India Eisley...
