@@TheRiggz666 sure in some cases you are still getting a service aren't you? It's not automatically preying on vulnerable people although I agree in some cases it is. Lots of people would pay for a service to make it more interesting. It's the same with ghosts and stuff i grew up in the 90s we had some great ghost shows and Fortean stuff it is interesting and brings the poetry to life.

I remember Edwards once agreed to come on to a show to perform an actual cold-reading where he and his staff were unable to get any recon on the subjects prior to the reading. Turned out to be a 100% fail for him. He literally got nothing right.

Funny, the one talk show I refused to watch as a kid was Montel's and it was BECAUSE he promoted Sylvia so much. I grew up with a very atheist dad and a very Christian mom so both sides thought psychics were evil (for different reasons) and I was always freaked out by them lol

I used to go to parties and had swarms of people believing I could "read their auras". It was quite simple... tell people stuff about themselves that they want to believe is true. I have no psychic abilities or ESP or anything. I just knew how to bullsh!t people really well. People really want to believe there are special people with these abilities so they can get answers that the real world cannot give them. Most will sacrifice their common sense so they can gain forbidden knowledge or whatever a person is seeking. Who WOULDN'T want to hear that someone they lost is trying to communicate with them? Or that they are a good person? BTW when I would do this aura thing and fall flat on my face and fail with a "reading", I would simply blame it on having too much alcohol in my system. People took it hook, line, and sinker. And for the record, I just did it to amuse myself, I never took a dime from anyone. Getting all the attention at parties was my reward.

My mum and I used to love watching medium shows on afternoon satellite t.v back in the day. Morbidly, i made my mum promise that if ever, a medium or psychic was visited, we would both DEFINITELY come through for each other... We did heartbreakingly and suddenly lose our beautiful mam 8 years ago (she was only 58 💔) About a year or two later, I felt brave enough to visit a spiritual church one Sunday evening a friend of mine attended, I was actually quite confident my mam would let EVERYONE know she was there 😅 I tucked one of her necklaces in my pocket just in case... The moment the lovely medium lady introduced herself... I found myself doing that long slow blink where my eyes stayed closed for 2 seconds too long, thinking, "Forget it....NOPE... No chance!" The medium was Welsh... my mum had a bit of an experience with the Welsh... she hated the accent because of! 😂😂😂😂 My two big sisters and I were wheezing when I called to tell them how it went! My mum would have been, too! Clutching at straws Maybe, but that was mum's sense of humour ❤
