I have a PSP 3000 with firmware 5.01 and i've been trying to install firmware 5.03 that i download it from different sites but the files end up being corrupt. What am I doing wrong?Is it the file or my psp? is it impossible now that there are latest version witch prevents previous ver. to malfunction? the file name is: PSP_502_FW_UPDATE downloaded from psphacks. I extract the rar into a folder with the EBOOT.PBP inside it and place it in the GAME folder but when i try to open it it sayscurupt.

No. It doesnt do anything bad. if it does happen to break, pop in the special battery and memory stick and itll be running again like clockwork. most popular things to do: run "iso's" (play games for free) play backgroundmusic in game play emulators (for example snes on psp) change the main menue (a new xmb) and a cusstom gameboot. (when u start a game, it doesnt show the white psp logo thing, it shows anything u want it to)

@MaestroKong Yes the 3000 can dl games like the PSP Go. The advantage of the 3000 is it can play UMD exclusive games that are not available on PSN.

the memory card is empty as the origininal, you don't need to buy a special battery, only gripshift... if you find it, and if isn't expensive

i see, well thanks for telling me, let's hope im not too late since im buying a psp 3000 myself during the weekend. and another thing. i heard that the "Gripshift Exploit" hasn't been "officially" released but only a handful of poeple know how to do it. could you be kind enough to tell us how you did it or at least PM me how?

@LamarKillaSwagg If you just buy a PSP 3000 Core Pack then no, Memory Stick sold separately. But for PSP bundles they do come with a free memory stick.

Actually those Battery's and memory sticks don't work in the PSP 3000 (and some 2000s) for those you need to run ChickHEN R2 and a Custom Firmware Enabler on a PSP running 5.03 OFW
