Pseudepigrapha: Not Just a Bunch of Lies

Ойын-сауық

By definition, pseudepigrapha is literature that is written by someone other than the "claimed" author. Today, we take things like false authorship and "plagiarism" very seriously, and some of us refuse to read any such reading. And if it has anything to do with our Bible study--no thank you!
But there are reasons that such writing exists, and while we will not designate the works we will talk about here as Scripture, reading these things can help us gain great insight into the thinking of the first century and the rise of Christianity.
What were people of Jesus' time thinking about giants, nephilim, and the strange parts of Scripture? Why do we have pseudepigraphical works actually quoted in the New Testament??
