Psalteria - Quando el rey Nimrod

Medieval judeo-spanish song
*****
chorus (x2):
Abraham Avinu, Padre querido
Padre bendicho, luz de Yisrael.
Luego a las comadres encomendava
que toda mujer que preñada quedasse
si no pariera al punto, la matasse
que havía de nascer Abraham Avinu.
(chorus)
La mujer de Terach quedó preñada
y de día en día le preguntava
¿De qué teneix la cara tan demudada?
ella ya sabía el bien qué tenía.
(chorus)
En fin de nueve meses parir quería
iva caminando por campos y viñas,
a su marido tal ni le descubría
topó una meara, allí lo pariría
(chorus)
En aquella hora el nascido fablava
"Andávos mi madre, de la meara
yo ya topo quen me alexasse
mandará del cielo ken me acompañará
porque só criado de El Dio Barukh."
(chorus)
Saludemos agora al compadre
y tambien al mohel
que por su Zehut nos venga
el Goel y Rihma a todo Israel,
cierto loaremos al Verdadero.
(chorus)

It's possible because in Turkey we still have sephardic Jewish people in İzmir and İstanbul. We have border with Bulgaria so it's possible to jewish people immigrated to there. Also as i know, there was a big Jewish community in the Thessaloniki, a city that is relatively near to Bulgaria.

The song speaks of Abraham`s birth, hence the pregnancy of his mother, the wife of terach (la mujer de Terach) that escaped to the fields running from the King Nimrod It is not about the pregnanacy of Sara Imenu

When King Nimrod went out to the fields Looked at the heavens and at the stars He saw a saint light at the jewish quarter A sign that Abraham, our father, was about to be born. Abraham Avinu, dear father Father who blessed the light of Israel. Then he told all the mothers That every pregned woman Who did not give birth to her baby was going to be killed because Abraham our father was going to born. Abraham Avinu, dear father Father who blessed the light of Israel. Terach's woman was pregned and each day he asked her Why do you look so distraught? She already knew very well what she had. Abraham Avinu, dear father Father who blessed the light of Israel. After nine months she wanted to give birth to her baby She was walking on the fields and on the vineyards Her husband will not discover her She made a manger where she will have her baby. Abraham Avinu, dear father Father who blessed the light of Israel. When the baby was born he told his mother 'Get away of the manger, my mother I will somebody to take me out He will send from the heaven the one that will go with me Because I am the sond of the blessed God.' Abraham Avinu, dear father Father who blessed the light of Israel.

Rabbi Moses Maimonides, the great Jewish physician, sage, and Aristotelian Philosopher was born in Cordoba at the end of Moorish reign over Andalusia. All Muslims and Jews had to flee Andalusia in the middle of the 12th Century as the Catholics reconquered Southern Spain. To be fair to the Catholics though, the Rambam's exile from Cordoba in 1148 actually began when a Radical Muslim sect conquered Andalusisla called the Almohads. They abolished the Dhimmi status, an unusual move for an Islamic Empire. They originally were the ones who forced Jews to leave Andalusia.

Yes, you are. "In contrast to a popular misconception, "Kuando el rey Nimrod" is not a song that dates from the times when the Jews lived in Spain and Portugal in the Middle Ages, and has its roots in a piyyut called La vocación de Abraham, of which several versions have been found that date from the 18th century and were written by anonymous authors in the former Ottoman Empire. The song, with its original much longer lyrics and its makam rhythm, would become popular in the Sephardic communities of the Mediterranean basin. Around the year 1890, an anonymous author from Tangiers, Morocco wrote a different version of the song, shortening its lyrics and composing a new melody in the phrygian mode. This reduced and catchier version survived to our days to become arguably the most popular song in the Sephardic repertoire, becoming a staple for Ladino singers such as Yehoram Gaon and Fortuna, and even for some Klezmer bands."

What I don't understand about this song (I hope a Jewish person can explain this to me): The first stanza tells about a star shining over the Jewish quarters, when Abraham is born (since that's what the song is about). I'm just your run-of-the-mill gentile, but wasn't Abraham the first Jew? Didn't he make the covenant with God and establish the ritual of circumcision in boys, when they come to age? The next stanzas tell about king Nimrod ordering a mass infanticide, after he decides the star is a bad omen for him, which last time I checked was a motive of the very Christian New Testament. I also can't remember Nimrod doing anything in the Old Testament, other than that Tower of Babel bullshit. Please enlighten me, because I'm confused.

Abraham was said to be born in Mesopotamia, hence why Nimrod is the king at the time of his birth. As far as him being born in a judería, that's just artistic license.
