Unrighteous people arrogantly turn their backs on God and yet seem to prosper, and Paul addresses that in II Timothy 3, then encourages the righteous to just keep on walking in the truth. Perhaps it would be tempting to follow the unrighteous, just to prosper in the short term, but the long-term consequences would definitely not be worth it. We must remember that for the unrighteous, this life is as good as it gets, and for the righteous, this life is as bad as it gets. I’ll gladly endure whatever comes my way, here on earth, and, despite the ever-increasing evil in the world, standing firm in the Word of God and faith, knowing that eternity is a long time, and Heaven’s going to be a blast! Thanks for the teaching, Dr. G.

Thank you...definitely existing present times. Lot of food for thought. Nothing has changed where sin is concerned. Lots of views about following Jesus today. But the words 'stand firm and don't follow....." stuck in my mind. What we were brought up to believe as children is now changing with lots of independent groups for Christ. Thank you for explaining the psalm

Even though unrighteous people arrogantly turn their backs on God and yet seem to prosper, we should not yield to the temptation to follow in their footsteps. Paul addresses the influence of evil in his final letter to Timothy by telling him what to expect in the last days. (He lays out the specifics in II Timothy 3.) He tells him that people will be lovers of self, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people! As I read this chapter I can see how we are clearly living in these times. It’s a time when believers must live what they believe, stand strong, and not compromise. Thankfully we don’t have to do this alone. We have the power of the Holy Spirit on the inside of us that will help us. Be Encouraged!
