Without proper winter tires, it's like trying to sprint or run a marathon in flip-flops.
Tires = shoes. Without proper tires, your vehicle has no grip. If your vehicle has no grip, it does NOT matter whether it's FWD, RWD, or AWD because it can't get any power down to the road.
Rubber, like most other materials, hardens as it gets colder. Winter tires are made of compounds that stay soft and pliable.
