I don't claim to be an expert at anything and feel free to dissagree but I have several AR's, most from Bravo Company but one Colt and 2 PSA cheap bargian guns. What makes a top quality gun is the bolt carrier group and barrell mainly. My PSA's have mil-spec BCG's and 4150 CMV CHF FN barrels. Feel free to insult me but I'm just as happy with my PSA guns as any of the top dollar guns. I do not view PSA as low quality guns but guns that have not had their prices jacked up for maximum profits. I built a 16" midlength with 4150 CMV CHF FN barrel, mil spec BGC and improved trigger for $385 during one of their specials. This was roughly 1/3 of the price as other "high end" AR's and it shoots just as accurate with no malfunctions.

"Overgassed?" A rifle length gas tube on a 16 inch barrel would have 1/2 the dwell time as a 20" barrel and hence, would be undergassed. This was the problem on the first dissipators so they had to bore larger holes in the FSB to allow more gasses to come back. Its not the ratio of gas tube length vs barrel length rather the difference in distance from the FSB to the end of the barrel to calculate dwell time. This is why the 10.3" barrels on AR's have to have a huge gas port because it's literally an inch from the FSB to the end of the barrel.
