Sony is selling PS5 at cost. It's too bad we had so much rampant scalping for the first couple of years. Sony took an investment into the gaming community at selling the console cheaper than it is to make, and people just resold it at gouged prices.

The glossy plastic right in the middle of the controller is a pretty insane oversight to me

They need to come out with replacement covers ASAP.

The controller wouldn't need replaceable stick modules if it just had hall effect sticks and the software customization could have been done with the standard dualsense.

100% this! There is no excuse to not have the system wide deadzone adjustment available for the regular controllers. Replaceable sticks is a positive but considering the price of the Edge (and the sticks themselves) you'd have to wear out something like 4 stick modules before you'd actually start saving money, and by that time other parts of the controller would probably start giving you problems. I'm keeping my hopes up for third party hall effect based sticks for this controller.

One improvement I've noticed that the Edge has over the Dualsense is that the area where you rest your pinky has been rounded compared to being more angular/pointy on the original controller. I've seen a few people complain about that on the Dualsense because it would jab into your fingers causing fatigue.

The chance of the cable falling out is pretty low with modern usb cables but it’s a nice touch. Improving the battery should’ve been more of a priority

The only thing I'm jealous from this controller over my Elite 2, is the replaceable joysticks. Should be on all model of controller, no matter what the system!

Adding this function basically means you have to re-design the entire controller. Actually impressive Sony maintains the size and reduces the weight of the controller besides adding this feature.

Swapping out the sticks when they inevitably get stick drift is a HUGE selling point. I’ve already gone thru 2 regular controllers so $199 isn’t that bad

Looks cool, and the replacement sticks gives peace of mind. But what about the L2/R2 triggers, that rubber membrane is the single thing thats not stood the test of time on all my DS4 controllers, haven't had my PS5 long enough yet to see if its different but wouldn't this mean a tear apart?

This could actually be really cool with games like Skyrim. You could create a new profile that has no deadzone and just walk around instead of having to slightly edge the analog stick upwards just to walk Unlike PC, console has no toggle walk button in games and thumbs get tired needing to be in an awkward position.

Does the Ps Edge controller work on PC? Most imoprtant do the paddle buttons work and the profiles stored on the controller if you use it on pc?

There is no battery burn as it has smaller battery than the normal dual sense. If its dead how are you going to play it plugged in?

Is it more response then the regular dual sense controllers ?

My biggest fear is with the changeable analog sticks. The astro c40’s had the same feature and those were even more prone to stick drift and needed to be changed more often in my experience. Hope this isn’t the same

It for sure will be the case. Companies have no incentive to fix drift when the majority of people accept it at this point as a "it will happen eventually". Now that it's established, it's time for them to move to the next phase of disposable/replaceable components the user has to replace

Been waiting for mine to ship. Can’t wait to finally get a Sony Pro controller. Finally a quality one and not a Scuf or Astro. It is pricey but 100% worth it given what all you get with it and the quality.

They didn't forget, they made the battery smaller to make room for more tech. It's a pro controller. Pros play wired for the lowest possible latency, so it's fine for the intended use.

Surprised the battery life was increased or better build quality and materials….

It's the long standing ps5 controller big fixed with this one?. Where PS4 games pump sound out of the controller speaker if you turn it down it won't return to the TV. This works correctly with a PS4 controller and means you always need to keep a PS4 controller paired to your ps5 or go insanes.. highly after after two years without a fix.

Can you map the paddles or fn keys directly to controls in games? For example, in GT7 if you want to tweak fuel map you have to use the dpad to go to the fuel map page, then again use the dpad to increment the fuel map up and down. Would be great if we could set the fn keys for example to increase/decrease fuel map directly

I'm so glad this is reviewing well. Pro controllers have a very hit or miss nature and I'm glad to see Sony took it seriously, as they do with most things.

The best thing about this KN episode was how diverse it was. You had a Mexican chef cooking Chinese food in an Italian restaurant.

So when is it supposed to be coming out tho?

Waiting on mine to arrive (With delivery driver now) Super excited for this with Call of Duty and Destiny. Definitely feel the benefits will be substantial, the interface is impeccable. Not worried about battery life as I'm going to just hard wire it

Give an update to controller to allow assign the Fn button to another function or button, or assign another button to the function of the Fn button and vice vorca. Simply put, allow two fn buttons as two extra fully remappable buttons for the controller.

Buy from StockX for between £125- £150 or buy from Argos for £209 and can replace even for a stickdrift problem for up to a year potentially 2years?

my main question regarding this is stick drift exists?

Assuming there will be some variance to the battery life with haptics on vs off etc. but it does seem disappointing only having 5ish hours for a 200$ product.

It also comes with a cable.. standard building codes should dictate a plug nearby anywhere you decide to play. This shouldn't be an issue. You aren't taking it on a cross-country flight.

i've gone through three controllers in 2 years from stick drift/trigger issues, couldn't fathom buying a controller from sony at this price point at all
