Thank you very much. This guide answered all of my queries as I was going along. Now my PS3 is reading discs again!

Drive looks different but is listed in the description. The ribbon cable for the laser looks the same. I ordered a whole new drive and it won’t take my disc. After watching this I think I’ll take the laser out of the one I ordered and put it in my old one. Thank you for your video.

First off let me start off by saying this is a GREAT tutorial video. So my lense came with the whole bluray drive loader (the metal frame the lense sits in) so it was easier to replace mine but I noticed a few things. If you pause the video at 18:27, my copper wire (on the right) on the NEW tray was not aligned like that (my old one was though). It was aligned facing the bottom of the screen so I had to twist it around when I was placing that wire back into its socket. 2nd part coming

So far so good. But you should focus more on tiny stuff like unclipping the cable for people who've never done it before. And right now I am trying to get the PCB but can't figure out what you did, you barely show the 1 clip you touch. But nonetheless I will subscribe once I figure this out haha!

@19SWE96 You only need to replace your lens with NEW (GENUINE/WORKING) Lens. If you have replaced with new lens and followed the guide and it still does not read, your lens is bad. Contact your seller and get a replacement. There is literally nothing required as long as you have the working lens. We have shown everything in the video.

that copper wire should be exactly as its shown in the video. Thats what a Genuine/Proper laser mechanism should look like. Maybe during shipping it stuffed up ? Confirm with your seller or the packaging was done in a way that it was facing bottom ?

You need solder NAND-Chip onto new PCB or transfer key via E3 or Progskeet tools. There is literally nothing required as long as you have the working lens. We have shown everything in the video.

I reopened the drive to see what would happen if I put the new lense in the old drive assembly. I'll let you know how that turns out. In the meantime, I took a picture of the two different drive assemblies to show what I was talking about earlier with the different copper wire setups. The picture will be sent to you via message since I can't put it here.

Yeah I worked it out but I got a new ps3 so cheap that I didn't feel like ordering a new lens when I'm not sure it will fix the problem. Great video nevertheless.

i believe some sort of alignment is still necessary here. Need pics or a video of your gear assembly

@Ven100 Good video :-) To me sounds like an issue with "Power Reset Switch Board" as it only stuffs up when you press the 'Eject' button on "Power Reset Switch Board". Is something shorting out ? Do you have a spare Power Reset Switch Board ? try out with another switch board first and lets see ? Then we'll try replacing the Blu-Ray drive. Its hard to figure out this behavior only way is Trial and Error and trying out with WORKING repair parts.

Maybe someone has asked this question before? In that case i am sorry. Anyway, my ps3 only reads disks (blu-ray) if i insert them, eject them, insert them etc. I have to repeat this process many times. It is a ps3 slim 120 GB. I'm wondering if a new laser lens will solve this problem? And also, isn't the circuitboards inside the PS3 sensitive to ESD's (electro-static discharges)?

I wish you would have an answer on my problem. My 120gb slim doesn't spin disks anymore after i cleaned the lens in it, was getting error 80010514 or whatever it was when it can't read disc. Now it just makes weird noises when I put in a game.

Nah, I don't have another power reset switch board. It's weird that that'd be the problem considering before I pulled out the drive it wouldn't do that before. I thought about going back and taking the new lens and putting it on the old bluray drive loader but I don't think that would solve the problem.

Part 2: When I tested the PS3 it loaded the disc just fine. The problem arose when I went to eject the game. After I quit the game I hit the eject button. The game ejects but then after a few seconds the blue light starts blinking again like it's actually ejecting a disc (no sound though). If I put the disc back in it just ejects it right away. If I restart then it's no problem. Until I use the button again. I noticed that if I use the on screen eject then it works fine after. Video coming

unless you have a spare blu-ray drive or reset board then only we can rule out the problem. unfortunately, its trial and error sort of technique.
