the disk tray has a button on it right? so why do you not have that part? i need one for my ps3 ultra slim because that button on that disk tray is what controls disk read and spin activation when you close the lid to the disk tray. that part is just as important as lens is. pls can you help me get the part i am describing because i really badly want to play on my ps3 again. ps this ps3 of mine is still running after non stop gaming for 5 years with no down time.

I have made a mental note of it and will consider it in the future. It is shown in this video when I remove it. All you have to do it lift up the disc drive deck and remove the cable underneath. The button itself slides up, there is no screw holding it in @ 8:10

Also, if the disc isn't spinning you need to remove the disc break or rig it up to be open. I like that precision drill. Can it be bought at your site?

My power light would come on, and when I turned it on it would turn green. Then like 3 to 5 seconds it would turn off. I replaced the power supply. And plugged it in. An its still doing it. Why what am I missing. Ps slim sliding door on top. ?????

The sliding door has nothing to do with it. This could be what’s known as the yellow light of death issue the only real way to tell what the problem is is to use is syscon. There are several tutorials on KZread that show you how to do this. We will be releasing a video in the future explaining this in detail.

Cool vid .. Watching cause I have The Same Console Supper Slim .. problem was it won’t turn on .. as in doesn’t even show the red light when I plug in the cables .. as in your mention 99% is from the power supply I’m Gonna Try And Do it my self From watching this and ordering power supply .. It could be a Yellow Light of Death (YLOD) issue which requires a reflow on the GPU/CPU or a reball. The best fix is to replace the GPU and CPU which is not an easy job. The second and lesser likely scenario is a bad power supply. If you have to unplug the power for the PS3 to even light up again its most likely a power supply issue.

Hello. I don’t know if you’re still answering questions on this video, but I need help with my disc reader. I replaced my disc reader, (bought a ps3 that didn’t read discs from a friend to fix it). Now it spins and reads, but it doesn’t. When attempting the read and spin, it makes a very loud grinding noise and leaves a nasty dull scratch on the disc and leaves removable marks on the disc tray. I think the laser is too high. I can’t find a way to adjust it. I also notice the disc wobbles while spinning, if there was a way to adjust the spindle platter? Anything helps, thank you.

What type of PS3 is it? If its a old fat model or the first gen PS3 Slim (2000 series) you need to install your old disc drive's logic board in the new disc drive. Hope that helps. Let me know how it goes.

I have never seen the motor fail. Not a single case so far in our company's 15 years of working on these consoles.

My super slims front usb ports don't work properly and I can't find any info or replacements anywhere. They will sometimes work like normal but usually refuse to detect when anything is plugged into them.

Its most like a controller chip issue on the board. Please first check the USB port for shorts or bridges.

I followed this to replace my power supply, but I can't get the ribbons back into the disc drive. Any ideas on how to get them back in? I thought I did, but now my disc drive no longer spins or works when it was 100% fine before. :(

Make sure the ribbon cables are in all the way to the blue line. Also clean the laser and check the ribbon cables to make sure they are not damaged

I thoroughly cleaned my PS3 super slim and when I placed it back together the disc wont spin at all or sometimes it will click and barley spin. It was working fine just before I cleaned it, and all the ribbons are in place what can be the cause of this?

It could be YLOD issue or power supply issue. Best way to diagnose is if you have to unplug the PS3 for it to even beep again then its a power supply issue otherwise YLOD caused by GPU or CPU

my ps3 super slim is no longer showing any power light (no red, yellow or green). i replaced the power supply and still nothing. what should i do now? i don't want to lose all my files on my HDD. If you replace your board you will have to format your hdd to make it work with the new board. As for troubleshooting I would check the power rails on the mainboard if you have already replaced the power supply and it does not work.

Bad laser in the disc drive or worst case could be the disc drive logic board. Try replacing the laser lens first, if that doesn't work then try replacing the complete disc drive.
