PS3 Controller Restoration- Restoring DualShock 3

Ойын-сауық

Well this ps3 controller came to me for the small amount of 2 bucks, it had one of the joysticks broken, some dust, and a totally dead battery. Luckily for me, with a battery change, a thorough cleaning of all components, and a bit of grease on the joystick gears, I was able to bring it back to life.
Unfortunately, I don't have a ps3 console with which to record a little gameplay and test its operation, but by testing it on PC I was able to make sure that it works perfectly.
I hope you enjoy the restoration of this control of playstation 3. that you like the video, subscribe to the channel and comment how you found this restoration.

    I've never taken apart a controller before but I didn't want to buy another one. The left thumbstick was acting haywire and causing the right stick to move when it wasn't supposed to. The buttons weren't responsive as they should be. This totally helped me now it's working perfectly.

    I am at my wits end with controller issues. One of my controllers just turns off by itself, especially if i am playing an action game where i press a lot of buttons and quickly. It starts being unresponsive, then it just goes completely unresponsive then it finally turns off. The console does not eve detect that no controller is connected for several seconds even though all the lights in the controller are off. Happens while connected via USB or wireless, if wireless it just starts charging when turned off and usually it's detected as off earlier. It's driving me nuts. Some times i can play for hours with no issues, some times it keeps turning itself off constantly. I doubt it is the battery since i changed it, so it has to be the ribbons or something in the board no? (it's the later, cheaper model of controller). If i could get a broken controller for cheap with the board and ribbon in working condition i could probably fix it. I have opened the controller so many times the screws are on the verge of being stripped and don't want to deal with that for nothing. I can't find ANY information on these issues.

  • @VRestoration

    @VRestoration

    2 жыл бұрын

    Well, with larger screws they can be removed with a drill, but the problem is that it is too small to do that. If you really need to open the knob, I advise you to try to remove the entire head of the screw with a file or something like that so that it comes out without damaging the housing, but the truth is that it is very difficult to do.

    I know this was ages ago, but just in case you are perpetually holding onto your broken electronics ( like me :P) they actually make drill bits specifically for this issue. GraBit is one brand name, but they have cheap sets on amazon that wont set you back more than $10. Ive used them for small screws on my laptop.

    It is a soldering station, it has a pencil soldering iron and a heat gun, you can buy a pencil soldering iron in homedepot or some store like that, they are very cheap you can find some from 5/10 dollars but I recommend that you buy the best complete station Since they are not very expensive in reality and they are much more durable in addition to that you can regulate the temperature better.
