Welcome to the exciting world of shoot 'em ups on the PlayStation 1! In this video, we present a complete list of all the games of this genre that were released on the console. Wow, PS1 had some gorgeous looking SHMUPS! Always thought the Saturn overshadowed it, but PS1 did hold it's own. Most of them still look gorgeous even for today's standards, the 3D ones too, which can hard to make looking good. 😎

The games are looking so good because the OP is using serious upscaling and shaders. The aspect ratio of the video also helps a lot too!

He's missing about a dozen shmups on ps1, including 3 of the best looking ones RayCrisis, R Type Delta and Einhander. Missing from this video, the guy needs to do his research and not upload these kinds of videos to the public. youtubers are clowns: Detana Yahoo TwinBee compilation, Airgrave, Dezaemon Plus, Einhander, Gaiaseed - Project Seed Trap, Harmful Park, In The Hunt, Philosoma, RayCrisis, Rtype Delta, Rtypes compilation of arcade-perfect R-Type and R-Type 2 , Cotton 100%, Toaplan Shooting Battle, X2 No Relief

@@ianswift3521 A lot of that list are in this video (maybe all, I haven't watched the whole thing yet). Twinbee, Dezaemon Plus, In The Hunt, Philosoma are all in the first few minutes, it's just that the section titles don't change for every single game.

Good list, but the Konami Arcade Classics shooters are missing: Pooyan, Scramble, Super Cobra, Tike Pilot and Gyruss. Also, I think some of the Atari/Williams compilations were left out too, and they have a nice selection of classic shooters.

THANK YOU. i’ve been trying for years to remember this specific game 😭 was still a little kid too so there’s not a lot to work with from my memory alone (it’s even different from what i remember but i’m sure it’s this one), been looking for some clues to trigger the memory, finally find it!!

Great Video I was only missing 9 of them. There are compilations with shmups on them but no big deal. The only one missing that I can think of is The Rail Loaders from 2000.
The PlayStation 1 wasn't perfect but the system did crank out some very good games that i love up until this very day 👍.

de verdad que el ps1 y el saturn fueron el paraíso para este genero en especial, una vez quise buscar tambien para N64, pero solo hay como 3 o 4 nadamas

con madres tus videos, saludos desde Mexico, en el minuto 1:20 mecionas raiden 2, pero al buscarlo no aparece listado. solo raiden project y el raiden dx. sera acaso un error-. y no se si ya tengas video para la snes de los shoot em ups. creo que tiene tambien bastantes joyitas ocultas. aqui me encontre facil con 10 titulos que no conocia y gracias a tu video ya tengoen la coleccion.
Hola, estoy buscando un juego de mi infancia que es de este estilo y no puedo dar con él. Para la PS1. Básicamente lo que recuerdo es un juego estilo 1945 que se ve de arriba y avanza en forma vertical, donde la característica principal es que las armas del avión se basan en unas esferas plateadas que giran al rededor del avión y salen disparadas, otra cosa que lo distingue es que al principio del juego se pueden elegir las distintas armas y partes del jet, antes de que salga de la base. Es todo lo que recuerdo, busqué por horas y no lo encuentro, miré video tras video y nada. Es increíble porque en mi memoria es mejor que cualquiera de estos que se ven en el video, y pareciera que no existe! En fín, gracias igual, no creo que lo conozcas porque estaría en el video, pero por las dudas dejo la pregunta para quien pueda responder. Yo lo tenía en un disco que traía varios juegos livianos tipo arcade y algunos demos, pero en algún momento lo cambié mano a mano por otro juego cuando era chico y nunca más lo encontré. Gracias.

wasn't "Retro Force" (1999 by Psygnosis) also a nice Shmup? But it was 3D.
Downloaded a torrent of very Japanese PS1 game. So many games us westerners never got to experience. So much better than crappy modern games!
As good as this list is, it still doesn't compare to the Saturn shmup library
Now do ps2
Why are you including Strikers 1945 2 and Thunder Force V? this video seems to be otherwise focused on exclusive PS1 shooters. despite adding these 2 ports, you neglect to add many PS1 ports, for example of DonPachi, DoDonpachi, Gunbird, Strikers 1945, Soukyugurentai (called Soukyugurentai obushutsugeki), and Shienryu (called Gekioh Shooting King on the PS1).
I always thought ps1 didn't get many shmups I had no clue there's so many
ps1 was a 2d beast.

Why wasn't i told there were US versions of Gunbird & Strikers 1945 (the original) for the PS1?

In the US, they were released much later, and Gunbird was released in the US under the name 'Mobile Light Force.' This version is quite curious as the entire storyline of the game was removed in the Western version, Mobile Light Force, including the final game sequences, and three of the character names were changed to Jason Last (Ash), John Suarez (Tetsu), and MILF 2000 (Valnus). The cover featured an image from the game Charlie's Angels, completely unrelated to the original characters or even the game's theme.

PS1 came along and change everything. Everybody stop playing SNES and Sega Genesis and brought a Sony PlayStation.
