PRx Halo (Jammer) Arm Controversy and Popularity of Jammer Arms

Фильм және анимация

Commenting on the recent claims that the PRx company essentially stole ideas to then patent them from other companies with their recent Halo Arms. I will also comment on the rise in popularity of versatile jammer/lever arms along side how they potentially compare to the Quantum Trainer.

Hey, thanks for chiming in. It is definitely a complex issue and I have been enjoying the community’s response. We’re supposed to be seeing a public response from PRx in the next day or two so stay tuned!

Awesome to hear brother, thanks for that comment. If you're ever interested on coming on talking about the functionality of Jammer Arms or something totally different, let me know. I've got some Jammer arms coming in and am actually curious if your product would with them. Thanks again

1,500 for jammer arms, is not only a slap in the face to the customer. The fact that they LIED I feel like we as CONSUMERS can be heard by not purchasing. Even if they didn't steal your ideal. 1500 is just STUPID. Anyone who pays that is STUPID.

It's definitely the patenting Someone else's idea that pisses me off. Prx stuff was already ridiculously overpriced and I won't be buying any of their crap ever.

Too overpriced. 1500 + (taxes) for lever arm, FOH. Stolen ideal or not, who pays that?

I understand people saying the Q.T. are basically jammer arms, but it not being part of a power rack was what I really liked about it when it was reviewed.

I agree with you on that, but I can understand people saying the basic function is there with a versatile jammer arm. That's why I got to try it out for myself.

@@hybridresistance 100% I don’t want to assume intent without their side of the story, but since the original designer said he had previously spoken to them about collaborating I don’t have high hopes. You provided an unbiased perspective which I respect and recognize the unfortunate reality that it really is the way the industry is now.

I did some looking into jammer arms after people were telling you to look at them. The problem is 1- force curve... 2- take forever to adjust.. 3- now they are in the way of your rack you need disassemble to use your rack. A youtuber had their jammers arms hooked up to two cable machines to get a better force curve that was cool

  • @hybridresistance

I personally wouldn't worry too much about the force curve as there many variables that will can impact it. I can tell you many basic exercises feel much harder and give off immediate stress compared to other modes at my disposal. The rack / un rack does seem cumbersome, but I'd just use on occasion and then store away when not in use.

If you watch Coop's review of the PRx, they had a pulley option to support cable machines but didn't release it. They say it's coming just not before the arms shop in August. Still not worth the $1500 for me.

Yep, compromise with design and versatility. The RoM, swivel, and safety pin mechanism of these newer jammer arms do seem pretty cool and versatile for more elaborate, free motion movements (machine trying to mimic a cable functional trainer) but not suited for HEAVY gold standard lifts (DL, squat, bench, etc.) I’ve got just some basic lever arms that are top loaded that are dedicated for heavy deadlifts (works amazing…but involves way too much finesse and adjustments to make it smooth for isolation, body builder esque exercises).

Yeah so I actual remember when Kaizen's version was shown on his video and Kaizen is a well known innovator and it sucks that they took it. It seems blatant to me. Just listened to his podcast yesterday. I feel for him. I saw him at HCG too and meant to talk to him but missed him.

I honestly don’t think PRX stole the idea. Let’s be honest, how many companies “stole” the cable system idea from Rep, every gym fitness company did the same product. copying ideas is just part of the game.

If they got a patent, which is not a quick process, they may have had the idea before the others started selling their goods.

PRX made their money parlaying a patent on shark tank, patents are their bread and butter, I think for something this relatively simple getting a patent pending wouldn't be too difficult to expedite given they probably have a legal team on retainer. If they had a patent years ago I don't think they would have toyed with working with Kaizen DIY in the first place.

  • @kyles8391
    @kyles839120 күн бұрын

I was excited to see the PRx arms until they released the price and without the pulley option from Coop's earlier video. Hard pass so I'll keep looking. Vendetta is supposed to be dropping their own rotational arms soon, as well as Bulletproof. Those Crandall arms would be your best option if you want something now with the rotation like the PRx, just not as many hole placements but at half the price.

I feel for Kyle (Kaizen) but he didn't want to deal with the hassle of a patent which is time consuming and expensive. Personally I think PRx has more in common with Crandall and Griffin 2.0 since Kaizen partnered with GymPin to make the swivel adapters and not the arms, trolleys, etc. Arms like Crandall, Griffin 2.0, and PRx have all of this built into one unit.

The whole industry is a rip off of a rip off of a rip off. Swivel jammer arms that can also lock in place? Tytax did that with the Option JD like 10 years ago. I already thought of the ultimate best jammer arm design 8 years ago, but because of the rip off nature of the industry, it was not worth trying to make a business out of it, or to even try to patent the idea then sell it off. It's a bummer because the concept would really take off. If anyone knows a rockstar mechanical engineer who can work through at least the prototype phase, I might rethink the hesitation, but this person would also need to be able to design adjustable dumbbells and cardio equipment like an elliptical and rower because I have good ideas on those fronts too.
