The Prunus J-985 AM FM Stereo Portable Headset Radio competes directly with the Retekess TR107, and its older J-982 Model. In this video I will go over the pros, and cons for the three radios. Prunus does impress with it's FM Stereo Reception, and Easy to Read Dial.

Features I like about the J-982:
Easy to Operate.
Clear Dial.
Power LED Indicator.
FM Reception is Above Average.
FM Stereo Mode is Ideal.
Hinged Battery Compartment.
Decent Price.
AM is Good for Locals.
Features that could be Added or Improved on:
Eliminate Low Level Hiss.
Separate Bass Boost Control.
Overall, the J-985 is perfect for the Urban user who loves FM Stereo, and doesn't listen to it at low volumes. The Retekess TR107 has the expanded AM band as well, has less hiss at low volume, but does exhibit distortion when its BBS is engaged. If neither fits the bill, consider a classic analog Walkman radio, such as the SRF-49 :)

I need to buy a small micro FM radio like the PRUNUS to carry as my EDC (Everyday Day Carry) in my pockets and on my belt. The only concern I have is that the PRUNES radio is digital. I was told that an EMP will destroy digital electronics.

What's stopping them from adding a micro SD card slot in this? That will make it perfect companion.

Hej Todderbert thanks for the video and the review and the bandscan interesting radio I have no micro radio. It would be nice to have one seems to be decent sound also in J-985. The Prunus J-982 looking at that radio right now think i go for that radio. Todderbert i have order a new Sofrin flashlight SF47T could not resist to buy it i got a good deal on it. I paid $ 60 from Sofirn also the Sofirn SC31T is interesting it has a tail switch. To have one or more tail switches love it now that I have experienced it in my Sofirn TF84. Yes Todderbert flashlights are no longer in short supply in my apartment take care have nice Thursday or rather Wednesday night in Chicago.
Does FM Stereo on the J-985 have less bass than the bass boost on the Retekess TR107? I found BBS to be excessive on the Retekess
How does "FM stereo" on the J-985 compare to the Retekess TR107 without its bass boost (BBS)?
I have very similar earphones to those and I get zero FM reception strange I thought it was the braid, and I bought that little Sony it's great on FM and batteries but AM is slightly lacking in mine I tried the XDATA D-328 slightly larger with a speaker but that thing was amazing on every band I pick up shortwave stations on the whip in my house which most of my other radios don't and it's great for MW DXing the speaker was ok but slightly low lacking range however great with headphones and zero hiss I sent it back but may purchase it again.
