Proverbs: Italians Do It Better! | Nicholas De Santo

I beat the Blackout again! (In Greenwich, London)
What is the Blackout competition?
3 random members of the audience have each a card and can object to your comedy by raising it! If you get 3 cards, all lights go off and you have to leave the stage mid-routine!
Here I play it relatively safe, no controversial material, so I can win by getting to the 5 minute mark.
It is a good crowd, but the club also attracts many students from universities nearby. On this night, one comic was repeatedly heckled by a woman shouting about "genocide in Gaza" and "20-thousand children killed", just to give you an idea of the kind of people who go to comedy nights nowadays!
The weekly Blackout competition is hosted by Up The Creek comedy club in Greenwich, London, England.

@@ZenexTheZealous Welcome to freedom of movement. It is called geoarbitage. Your money goes further in poorer countries, so you asset strip it. This is why property rights and national borders were invented. This is what the EU was created for, to create markets for their goods and to steal from you.

If only we had simple rules to respect everyone's borders, language & culture. Since the expansion of NATO, the advent of the EU, the ECB, & the Euro nothing in Europe has gotten better over the last 20-25 yrs. It's clearly visible in the demographics if for nothing else.

With good humor and wit, you can help us to laugh and give mad props to Italy! In the same spirit, I’m going to suggest that it’s time you dusted off the books of some English 18th century novelists and get busy reading! “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life” - so said Samuel Johnson to his friend and biographer James Boswell in 1777. The full quote is actually "Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. Or you can google it like I did … but Wordsworth-- c’mon..,no way, he was too busy visiting nature to bother with a city!

Hate to ruin your sketch, but "Le donne sono fatte per essere amate, non per essere capite" is by Oscar Wilde :-) “Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood.” But I guess this phrase caught up more in Italy than in England.

I don't understand? 2:16 In English we say 'Nobody is prefect' but when he says 'Even Jesus Christ who is our Lord and Saviour, every 12 choices he got one wrong' yet he claims our phrase is wrong? he can't argue because 'Even Jesus makes mistakes' so nobody is perfect!

Hi Carl. Thanks for watching and commenting. I didn't claim the English expression is wrong. I claim the Italian version is more "effective" and powerful, because it involves the Lord and Saviour. :-)

@@AngloItalianComedy Sorry but it is to long, too complex and can't be used in normal conversation. I understand what you say but when someone you work with makes a mistake you laugh and say 'nobody's perfect' you wouldn't say 'bhladia bvlah Jesus bladua flappisa buhts Saviour sham ahsjs aihdh Choices' Before you had finished that he would have shouted 'F*cking shut up!' at you.
