both of the DeLorean from back to the future and the ecto-1 are iconic,but all we can say is,The Ecto-1 is way more recognisable.

Being in an enclosed 6 x 6 foot elevator, the little look of worry, and moving 5 inches away from Ray's now powered on "nuclear accelerator" in the elevator all in a 20 second period is one of *many* reasons why this movie is amazing.

This is what made us love this movie as kids. It was cool, geeky and scary. I didn't even get why they called it a comedy until decades later.

Re: comedy, same here! I remember reading the DVD packaging when I got it many years ago, and it kept saying "comedy". And I was like "what the hell are they going on about?!" I always considered it science fiction! Just like back to the future. It has its funny /lighthearted moments but I wouldn't consider it a comedy. Just like Ghostbusters.

@@vhscopyofseinfeld Why did you love it then? i came from a Startrek family (we all watch it while eating at the diner table) the idea of catching a Ghost drew me in and i wanted to learn about the tech and containment chambers.

The proton pack is my fav movie prop ever! I would choose that over a lightsaber anyday of the week!

Subtle humor is one of my absolute favorite types of comedy. Think Clue for an entire movie reference. The scene in elevator is a perfect example. When Egon turns on Ray's pack and then moves to the corner 🤣😂. It's like WTF is that gonna do if that thing explodes?! Still absolutely hilarious timing and reaction.

3:00 I love how Ray calls it a steal despite like $60k worth of repairs because he’s a mechanic with degrees in mechanical engineering so since most of those cost would go into labor which would be free it really was a steal

The most memorable sound to me is the Ecto 1. Just hearing it makes me well up with nostalgia. Every gadget in Ghostbusters was cool as.

What makes so many of the gadgets plausible is their homemade, hobbyist look, that they were created with off the shelf, military surplus stuff bolted together in a garage, with none of the glossy finished feel of Star Trek.

Some of the best props in cinema history... how about some interviews with the creators about the inspiration behind these epic pieces?

@@UndeadLavender Oh believe me, I've seen it all. I've been behind the glass at the Sony studios lobby and gotten up close and personal with hero pack they have on display there. We did everything short of take it apart. What I want is something that shows the packs being designed and built, with pre-assembly documentation, etc. along with interviews of the exact people that did it, if possible.

They're all creations by the Genius Dan Aykroyd, initial sketched concepts by his friend John Devikas and lastly built by Chuck gaspar, stephen Dane.

Originally the proton packs were just going to be wands, according to the notes of the Double Feature Gift Set. Like, literal wands on the fingertips of their gloves.

That elevator scene. Master class in minimalistic comedy.

One of the things I love about props and propmaking is how you can take bits and pieces of things. trinkets, ribbish, put it together, rework it, rebuild it, and suddenly you have a unique item that can be given new life in a film. For example, Luke Skywalker's lightsaber in the original Star Wars is merely the handle from an old Graflex flash photography camera with windshield wiper blades and calculator parts glued to it. The Ghostbusters' proton pack looks like a backpack with a odd collection of tubes, wires, and lights attached to it, but it's one of the most memorable weapons in film.

Just took possession of a benofkent proton pack a month ago. Waiting for my lighting kit to arrive before I start building. Never been more intimidated by a build before. Hope I can do it justice.

Although I love these vignettes, I'd much more love to see the creators and prop makers telling us their stories for how they got made and how they ended up being designed the way they were. I only got the hearse joke that the Ecto-1 conveys as an adult. I just figured they needed an old cheap car, which as Ray sets up in the joke, it was too expensive for what it was anyhow haha.

Great compliation, but I also would have added the tech from the video game.

Chinese? E:How 'Bout Thai? R:eh,Too Spicy ,Greek? E:Mexican? R:Pizza E:Thin or Thick? R:Chicago they were either thinking what the pictures could be from,or they could be just wondering what to order for dinner .

God damn it thank you for the memories, and i will cherish GB1 and 2 forever, and praying GB3 is worth the wait. Also whatever planks gave this a dislike.

I’m surprised that Stantz or Spengler never turned that catheter hose into an anti-possession device.

I see a movie mistake at 5:03 :-( I always thought the slime blowers were 100% portable but there are hoses coming from the right side of the screen. It's still real to me!!!!!!!!!!!

GB2 could have been a decent script, a few issues I'm seeing is Vigo's comic relief, the subway heads on pikes was a great idea, I personally want to see a Ghostbusters movie but with real ghosts, zombies, ghosts like poltergeists, amityville, could be a prequel to forget 2016.

It's technical. It's one of our little toys.

rw:@7:10 Their 1st Plaintiff before GHOSBUSTERS THE VIDEOGAME for all the previous consoles ,and systems and REMASTERED VERSION for the PS4 AND XBOX came around.

as a kid I never liked the nutrona wand that they sold because it didn't look like the ones in the movie or cartoon. The ones now are sold are definitely the ones I want.

I wonder what the paperwork for registering "ECTO-1" and "ECTO-1a" license plates looked like...

What about that big green gadget they used in 2? Statue of Liberty should have been on this list.

In the original drafts, the Ectomobile was painted jet black, to suggest a menacing and fantastical quality. The Ecto-1 could also evade police pursuit by dematerialising. It was the cinematographer, László Kovács, who said it would be better painted white in order to show up better in all the nighttime scenes.

Its Andre Rieu! 1:54 . I love how all these reality ghost hunter shows have based all their "scientific" methods and equipment on Ghostbusters 1 & 2.

You forgot the Ecto-1 B from the Ghostbusters video game, it's the one with the giant trap on it's roof.

Gotta love how the Spectral Analyzer was able to spit out the result image before the original image is full inside the machine lol.

John Bruno was the visual effects director, and he explained to the actress to push the cart down the hallway and that at the end it was going to blow up when the Ghostbusters start shooting. "The cart was all pre-rigged with pyro work. So she pushed the cart out, strobe lights went off, the cart exploded - and it scared the hell out of her! She fell to the ground, looked up, and was like, 'What the hell are you doing?' It wasn't scripted, it's just what happened."

I really wish they'd showcased Ecto 1 more in the original film. I thought this was going to be like a tutorial/breakdown video. Cool none the less.
