Protesters spray tourists with water
Thousands of protesters in Barcelona sprayed tourists with water in popular tourist areas on June 6.
Barcelona has seen a huge rise in housing prices in recent years, with some government officials blaming high tourist rates.
Barcelona’s Mayor Jaume Collboni announced a plan in June to phase out all short-term rentals by 2028 - an unexpectedly drastic move by authorities seeking to rein in soaring housing costs and make the city liveable for its residents.

It really has become overrun with tourists, especially in the last ten years or so, so much so that I no longer like going there. I understand where the locals are coming from, though they shouldn't blame individual tourists... The problem is more structural.
once all tourists left, shop and cafes closed, followed by fast food and other restaurants (case of King Cross, Sydney), then entire place become ghost town. All those angry locals will start migrate to other part of towns and repeat their riots.

How did they determine which were which in the scene we’re watching?
So what happens when there are no more guest tourists and losses in billions of dollars? Are the protesters truly serving Spain 🇪🇸 or destroying it’s economy?
So the tourists that leave get this but the migrants that stay and leech off the government are spared?? wtf. We have same issue in australia with high house prices. Direct your anger at the politicians and migrants

Australia!!!! So you an immigrant complaining about immigrants leaching of and taking over the land from the natives by criminals. Not to mention brutality and crimes against natives that would easily pass as genocidal acts. Let me think cause I have a few countries on my mind. Your a funny man but I agree with you.
Spain has always blamed tourists and been very bad against tourists, I can't believe people go there.

If you learn Spanish and don’t treat their towns like playgrounds they’re incredibly warm and welcoming. Turns out most humans don’t like outsiders entering and lowering their quality of life - funny how that works.
