A silly question from somebody who doesn't live in UK : what is the point of all that effort, resources, training, risk of life and money if the criminals don't get charged accordingly; sometimes released without any?. I guess that these kind of situations are as very common here in Canada, as well. Great show, by the way. Greetings from Toronto.

Not a silly question honestly. I can provide some sort knowledge, but I don’t know the real reason, so don’t take my word for it :) Small charges, or a lack of a charge sometimes depend on lack of evidence or what can be proved that allows offenders to be charged. Furthermore, charges depend on the statistics of the crime (obviously), but they must also consider on varying levels of danger they are to the community in the future. Another is that, the UK is small. It’s basically an island. So the prisons would also be very small, and can become overcrowded, which they wish to avoid, as it can lead to several circumstances, ie. enemy gangs meeting and causing trouble, crimes being taught amongst criminals, the way they can commit crimes may improve, how much of an affect is being in prison going to have on them and so on. So because of this, they need to be very picky on who is to be arrested and charged long term. Though this is probably only one of the many deciding factors. Yes, sometimes the charge may seem like it doesn’t reflect the offence, or the trouble leading up to the arrest, but we’re not sure of the criteria behind it (or we could, but that’s too much research lol), so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Hope this gave some sort of understanding to the charges. If any of this needs to be corrected, or something isn’t right, feel free to tag me the correction. :D

Interesting to know choppers aren't designed to hover anymore, I wonder if it is a stabilization issue. I'd think surveillance would be a ton easier without having to orbit.

Robbing a supermarket and no charges? And why aren't these cop cars not equipped with ramming bars on the front? 🤔 things are so different there than in the US.

I wonder why they don't have bull bars too! They need them and the newest method of stopping a vehicle without the drama of a crash. It is a net that will deploy on command, allowing the police car's driver to essentially snag one of the rear wheels and "lock" it from turning. It will quickly bring a vehicle to a complete stop!

If the value of criminal damage exceeds £5,000 the maximum penalty for those aged 18 or over is ten years imprisonment and for those aged 12-17 years the maximum custodial penalty is a detention and training order of up to 24 months.

Jake Lees313 going onto the rail network? Won’t exceed 5,000 in damages let alone cause damage? That’s the 1 thing btp can’t really ever prove you’ve committed, unless you’re caught in the act? There’s so many holes in the rail networks fences, it’s a joke👍🏻🤣
