Great! I'm so glad I found this one, as I'm a PA native. I moved to the coal regions almost a year ago and there are mines and small creeks all around my home. I imagine I *may* find something here. I know for sure there will be pyrite. There's a old coal refuse mountain not that far away and a creek runs right through it. Its all shale, dirt, rocks and whatever is not coal that was pulled out of the mines. Im really wondering now what I can find. I guess I'll just have to find out. If anything, it will be fun and I could at least get some crystals and such out of it. 🥰 BTW, I live very close to Bloomsburg. ❤

Heh, when you come to Louisiana, I’d recommend going to Shreveport-Bossier if your interested in scrounging by the casino riverboats. And if your hoping for historical finds, New Orlens is actually NOT the place right now. There’s been bad bad tropical storms, causing any good relics to be buried beneath rubble and scrap.

Dana GAYLOR I live about an hour from B-burg, but I’m a SoCal transplant. If you like moisture, then Pa is for you! Rain and snow and freezing in the winter, rain and hot and humid in the summer, and in between there’s lots of rain and humidity and flooding creeks and rivers. Did I mention the humidity? We’re talking air you can wear. Call me spoiled, but I sure miss the desert... Don’t get me wrong though, if you like nature, there’s lots of it. Spring and fall are gorgeous to look at, there’s wild mushrooms and tons of deer. We have hawks and falcons and eagles (besides the ones from Philadelphia) and turkey vultures, regular turkeys and geese and ducks and pheasant... well, you get the idea. Plus, Pa is 3rd in the country for Bigfoot sightings, if you believe in that. Did I tell you it’s humid? Being a colonial state, it’s awesome if you’re into history. And it all comes with lots of humidity. But the people are nice. Interstate truck drivers know with their eyes closed when they’ve crossed into Pa, because the roads are like the lunar surface year ‘round. GOD I miss the desert... There’s lots of places to fish, if you go somewhere not polluted by the coal industry. NEPa is honeycombed with all the mines. Or, used to be before the Susquehanna broke through and flooded them. Now the Wyoming valley is one huge water filled hollow under all the towns because erosion cut from one mine to the next. The ones that aren’t flooded are still burning underground from the fires that started in the ‘30s. I need to move back to the desert. It’s easier to breathe there without all the humidity. Cars rot out fast here, because of all the salt they throw on the roads in the winter, and when the crater filled roads dry, there’s a haze of salt dust floating in the air. I get sinus infections every spring. Last year it turned into pneumonia. Because of the moisture. So much moisture you’d be hard pressed to find a basement not covered in mold. But the people here are nice. Proud of their history and heritage. And well they should be. Even the mafia and the corrupt politicians are nice. Although I don’t know how they can wear $5000 suits in all this humidity... Sorry, I didn’t mean to rant, and I’m probably not making any friends here. There are lots of people who absolutely love it here, and I myself have been here since 1990. And it hasn’t been all bad. Your comment just caught me on a grumpy day. I’m kind of miserable, because I’m just getting over another sinus infection. And I’ve just received the 3rd flash flood warning of the day. Yesterday it was tornadoes. But as they say here, if you don’t like the weather in Pennsylvania, stick around for an hour. It’ll change. Except for the humidity. That’s always there. The mosquitoes love it...

Ugh....first off its not all till gold. A local geologist put an entire book on gold in pa. Susquehanna is the big drainer of glacial till gold. Lancaster area produces quarter inch size gold out of creeks. Towns near Dillsburg have their streets paved with gold laden material. Then you have other gold....like hidden gold coins...bars...etc up north. Which is a big thing right now because one was supposedly found. Black sand can be found close south...Galena big time.
