Smh...I know this kid who was last year of Med school and had never been in any kind of trouble. His neighbors (2 guys) asked him for a ride to McDonald's. They get there the 2 guys went in the McDonald's while he stayed in the car. They come out, get in the car and they all drive back home. A few weeks later the police impound the car its his dad's car who was out of town at the time. Dad comes home, goes to the police to get the car back, has no idea what took place while he was gone, and takes the son with him to drive the car back... The police separate the dad and son and eventually tells the dad that "his car was used in an armed robbery of a McDonald's).. At the end of the investigation, it's determined that the 2 guys Robbed the McDonald's while the son waited in the car as the get-away driver. But the son adamantly denied knowing anything about a robbery, had faith in "the system" and fought it in court. While the 2 guys plead guilty to the armed robbery and got 7 years each. The son lost his case and got...........THIRTY YEARS IN PRISON!! smh.. (still in there as we speak) This crap happens more often than you think.

You’re right, as a PARDON is for adjudicating guilty people. This man did nothing wrong, as he is innocent. That said, because he is innocent, he needs a judge or an elected official to have his adjudicated judgment of GUILTY to be VACATED or OVERTURNED, in order to be released. He is still in jail because the judges won’t vacate or overturn the judgment of guilt, and because he is innocent, he doesn’t qualify for a “pardon,” as pardons are for those who are guilty. Mr. Strickland is still in jail due to the fact that an elected official or a judge to VACATE or OVERTURN the judgment of guilty. So, there is a difference between vacating/overturning a guilty judgment and pardoning a guilty judgment, and that’s why he is in jail. It sucks and I hope that someone vacates that judgment. Hope that helps!

I know its not much considering we can only measure the here and now... but its something he deserves.

We managed to keep blacks off the jury to get him there. Yes, we messed up but we cannot say so. We realize the men that did do it have confessed and done their time…but to admit we did something wrong would show us as weak and not knowing what we do. If someone is falsely imprisoned the police and prosecutors should pay the price because chances, are, they withheld important information from the defence. PATHETIC!
