    Its a LOT OF WORK!!! Where I work we use point care click, the CMT does all the charting, orders meds, if there is an incident such as a fall they put in the 72 hr. Post follow up or any new orders or changes. You talk to the doctor, family members. Your doing everything!!! Also supervising your unit, at the end of each cycle the cart has to be changed out and new cassettes placed. If someone falls your doing the assessment, faxing paperwork to doctors, printing out face sheets for EMT, calling family ( which is a trip sometimes) then if they refuse to send mom or dad out you gotta get them to come in and fill out the paperwork for that. It's so many different forms. We do insulin, sliding scales which are tricky, also wound care. It's a lot of work!!!! and paperwork. We don't get pulled to the floor. We can volunteer to work on our day off but this facility does not ( so far) try to get 2 for the price of one.

    Hi! I'm a new sub as of tonight. I came here for some tips and help. I am currently in SC working at a assisted living senior facility and I started out as a resident assistant. Aka CNA without the title. I was formerly a CNA in the state of NC but they expired and I went on to do other things for a while. Now it's been some years and I decided to get back in this field again. Nothing leaves your mind even if you haven't done it in a while. You will get back into the groove like I did. I thank God 🙏 I was formerly a CNA because it makes the job alot easier as far as knowing what to do and how to handle residents/patients. It is also a job many want as the title but the work is serious!!!! I am in the process of actually re training myself and searching helpful things to help myself along the way. I am in training right now for med tech and the way that it is going I feel is so out of place but I'm doing it to also challenge myself and to see if I can do this. Typically the place I work for is supposed to have a *class. A 5 hour class I've heard about. They send a licensed pharmacist to come out to teach the class supposedly but I've not yet seen that happen but they have more than plenty that want to sign up to be a med tech and everyone is just wondering when the class is. Now the situation I am in is that they need help really bad so they have me training alongside some other ladies I work with to learn. The problem is everyone is not happy when it comes to training. First of all they many not be trainer material. Which in my situation is the case. I don't think the people I work with are happy at the job itself altogether. So it's been difficult but I have been sticking in there because I want the position. It's a position I feel like I was blessed to have and honored to have because we have some pretty bad ones around. Almost everyone is so unhappy where I work at but I love the job. I love my residents and I'm praying I can work it out. Also my trainers are doing the thing where they want to show you what they want you to know but really not what you supposed to know. So I'm taking notes. Period ... 🔥🔥 I am not trying to get ahead of anyone nor compete but in this business there's some bull headed people. All I can think about is trying to help the actual people in need of help which is the residents. They get done so wrong and I try to give all the love I can. Those folks paying out of the ass for live in these type places. They should get all the care and love they can. My heart is in it. Truthfully. You don't have alot of people that enjoy it because of the treatment as far as pay and sometimes you can be targeted racially. It's so many things I can list but I will let you all know how it is going. Ps they have been joking at my job calling the position a C.D.D. certified drug dealer. 😭😭😭 I thought that was pretty hilarious 💯🙏 anyway I am looking at vids to help me and studying books and taking notes cause it appears to be that I am on my own on this. I am even going to go purchase my own everything as far as temperature 🌡️ thermometer a blood pressure cuff a stethoscope and all that because the carts are always missing that and I have to take blood pressures and etc. Thanks for the vid ❤️ speaking on it 🔥❤️❤️❤️ take care much ❤️from the Carolinas.

I got a few questions if you dont mind answering. Is this course difficult to pass? Is the test difficult? Im nervous just thinking about it. Also, I am not a CNA, but have worked in assisted living facility, do you need to become a CNA or nurse before being a CMT?

  • @yourfavnurseb9699

    @yourfavnurseb9699

    Hi, I would look at that your state requires. Most CMT programs in my area (Missouri) require you you be a CNA for at least 6 months. I don’t think the test or class is that difficult, but of course it all depends on your educational background and how you are with exams and what not. Really I say just go for it, do your best and make it happen. I understand being nervous but the only way to see what it’s about is to just get into a class and get started. Good luck with everything

    This is facts the CNAs be arguing and fighting with each other and have nasty attitudes, and I be popping my pills with my AirPods minding my own business, watching all the drama lol like a TV show, but I just keep quiet 🤫 do my job, mind my own business, and say it does not concern me, and clock out. Some CNAs will try to talk to me to rope me into their bullshit and I give a short two word answer yes or no to the point and keep on keeping on, since I became a CMT I have not looked back, I was a CNA for two years and I will not go back to that, I will be starting my LPN this august so I’m excited for that! However, I do love being a CMT I be in my own world away from everybody else.

I was under the assumption that I would be just passing meds. I am frustrated because my coworker want me to pass meds and give showers as well change residents clothes put them to bed. It’s not a hard job but because we are understaffed I feel like I’m doing more than I signed up for. I’m not able to focus on passing meds efficiently because I’m too busy checking on residents. Not only that but my Shift lead makes shady comments when I don’t get to a resident on time. How am I suppose to do all that and pass meds it’s frustrating.

    I think you can keep your cmt license current as a LPN but it may depend on the state. But I don’t really see the point because you make more working as a nurse rather than a CMT. Now if you work at a place and they need you to pass meds instead of working as a nurse, that’s a different scenario. But actually applying for a CMT position as a LPN, I can’t see that happening

Some nursing homes will hire you as a cmt and train you on the job and school you, but that can be a pain to deal with so I suggest you go to a reputable school in your area. Join fb groups for cnas and CMTs in your area too there may be great resources there. Some states have programs that will pay for your schooling too. Good luck!
