Hey please don't move to New Zealand's New Zealand is overcrowded and the average household cost 1 million dollars that is because people from overseas are moving here and it's such a small country too and everybody is competing with everybody and that's a massive problem so you would be doing us a great favour not moving here.

What I love about New Zealand is that when you come home from school or work you can relax at the beach, go skateboarding with your mates and have a BBQ with your family. But compared to Sweden where I live. When you come home you grab your computer/iPad and nothing more really.

You did an excellent job of this video . A good overview, well presented . You asked that we let you know where your viewers live . I am a New Zealander , married to a Canadian , and living in Canada . I grieve for the home of my heart daily . Life can sometimes push us around a bit . I live a good life , but the trip my family and I took to NZ a year ago showed me that NZ is still stunningly lovely , the people open and welcoming , the lush varied vegetation a delight , and as in your case I feel fortunate I was brought up there . All the best with your KZread life , and your life in general .❤️

Hi Dani, nice to meet you too. I have just found your video channel and I am subscribing. I live in Melbourne Australia, but my mum was born in Palmerston North. My favourite New Zealand city is Wellington. I visited New Zealand on holidays five times during the 1970's, though mostly the North Island, with the exception of day trips to Picton and Christchurch. I got slightly hurt in New Zealand back in 1970, when I accidentally sat in a gorse bush!!! Ouch!! LOL. Thanks for sharing an excellent video. All the very best. Robert.

Having lived in the UK (3 yrs) and USA (1 yr) I can say the quality of life in NZ is far superior. It's really not that expensive compared to London and San Francisco. The wages are lower but in my field the work/life balance is better and colleagues are so much more supportive. Side note, very strange to hear the Kiwi accent having been away for ages :o

Pro tip : Some South & East Auckland Suburbs crime rate are high, make sure your car is always locked and take every thing on you like phones, wallet etc, and at least parked in open areas where people can see your car but other than that don't judge every Polynesian or what ever culture by their looks or how they wear, everyone has different mind sets & its usually friendly on how you approach.

Likewise, I am also interested, as I have long understood it is very hard to become a citizen of NZ. You can be welcomed as a visitor for 90 days, maybe 6 months, but then you have to leave unless you own some NZ real estate or have some job/business that is deemed cannot be done by a native Kiwi. Also would like more commentary on the basic costs of living in NZ vs. USA or elsewhere. I cannot believe it would be double what it costs to live monthly in the USA.

Hi, Dani. I am indeed an American who's been tossing around the idea of moving to New Zealand (I'm from near Chicago). I wanted to ask about health care in New Zealand. I understand from Wikipedia that the country has a sort of mix of private and public systems. Are most New Zealanders generally happy with that system? What is there to know about health care in NZ apart from what's on Wikipedia?

  • @DaniWatt

Hey Dylan, that's awesome I love Chicago! We have a great health care system here in NZ. I'm no expert but I could suggest going onto the ministry health website to find out more. :)

No, most NZers are not happy with the system! As an American coming here you will need a 2 year visa to qualify for health care. If shorter than that you will need private insurance. Private is the way to go as you will be seen in a timely manner and the specialists will love you because your insurance company pays up front. There is a shortage of GPs in the country so it is hard to get on with a regular clinic. Visits to the GP will generally be cheaper than any co-pay that you have in the US though so... if you don't mind a 4 month wait to see a specialist, things are good with the private system. Medications are subsidized though which is great as you don't have to be rich to afford prescription medications.

I'll respectfully disagree sir. I'm a Kiwi living here all my life. We do have waiting lists for some things, but if it's life threatening (like a heart attack) you'll be seen immediately and get excellent treatment. Even for things you have to wait for in my life I've been looked after well. Some of the best maternity care too. I do not waste my money on insurance, my taxes pay for my health care and for my family.

Fascinating. I'm a Brit who lives in the US (Florida to be exact). The main differences are: -The weather: Very long, hot summers and warm winters in FL. Much better than the never ending cloudiness of the UK. -Education: The system is COMPLETELY different. There's too much to explain here, but basically, the US system focus on breadth instead of depth. School finishes at 18 instead of 16, sixth form doesn't exist, and one has to do general education subjects (such as maths and english)at uni. -The people: people over here are very open and helpful, especially when talking about customer service. In England, people are wayyy more reserved. -The infastructure: Down here in FL, everything is very spread out. You NEED a car to get anywhere, especially in the summer.

Hi Dani I really wnat to thank you for this valuable informative video :) I am from Saudi Arabia and I am going to continue my post graduate study in the field of business. Frankly, New Zealand is one of my options that I think most of the people like to be closer to nature as much as possible and I knew some friends who have grduated from New Zealand and they had good experience thier so far. I am aiming for a country that allows me to lecture in their Universitis to get the sufficient experienc in teaching. so my first question is about the country policy about working and staying in the country for several years how easy/difficult is that? my second question is regarding transportation, in your opinion what the best economical method to move around in New Zealand? buying a car or using public transportation? Thank you once agin for your enlighting video Dani :)

I live in Wellington, I can tell you that its more of a city than Christchurch, we have a museum (been there so many times, could be interesting for you), good walks, its not hot but can have nice weather. Finding a job really depends on if you want a casual job or one you're qualified for. Sorry this probably wasn't helpful, but I like Wellington
