Yep, that is the only thing that made Halifax tolerable from me. but you can find that in most cities in Canada of that size and bigger. The closest you will get to real pristine nature with the exception of some of the coastline is in the remnant forests near Cape Breton, inland from Fishermans Harbour, and in Southern NS near south area of Handsled Lake. That is the closest you will get in the Maritimes to seeing a real forest.

Great video, Tom. I'd suggest that the close proximity to nature makes this a terrific city as well. Plenty of parks, trails and beaches are all within easy reach. I'm also pretty satisfied with the climate here, which is generally pretty agreeable overall. One con I'd add though is that NS Power is pretty unreliable for a utility. I have been all over the country and power outages here happen far more often than anywhere else I've experienced. It can be frustrating at times.

Great video! Another pro I can mention (based on numbers, I've never lived there) is "milder" winter,s compared to some other places like, let's say, Ottawa or Calgary. It's nothing like Vancouver or Victoria, but extreme low temperatures are rare on the charts I've seen. Also, racoons are not rodents.

Compared to other cities, it is bad, very bad. I love my city, but have to say that if you're a walker, you can use that and busing to good advantage. Biking is being pushed a lot, but we have many steep hills, and it's an old city. Biking became to unsafe for me around 2000, too many inattentive drivers. Other than that, I have nothing negative to say. We have the same problems as other cities, but I love Hali. I've been from coast to coast, and my only temptation would be the left coast. Gotta have that ocean!

Terrible. I've never owned a car and have used Halifax Transit faithfully for 45 years! It's only gotten marginally better. I was on two buses this past Saturday. Incredibly hot day and neither bus had AC. This is not unusual. Buses don't have their shocks replaced often enough, if at all. It can be a brutal ride, depending what part of the municipality you're in. The Dartmouth "bridge" bus terminal is atrocious, nothing but bone-rattling bumps. It can feel as though you're getting your a$$ kicked. Of course, Halifax is a have-not city, situated in a have-not province. So there's not much money to invest in infrastructure. A monthly adult bus pass (unlimited use) is currently $82.50 CDN. (I don't know if it can be used on the express routes.) Others have told me this is expensive. I dunno. Drivers are good folk, for the most part. There have been a few assaults on bus drivers the last few months. Why would anyone assault a bus driver? Makes no sense.

I moved from BC in 2020 due to the cost of housing. Taxes are higher, very hard to get medical treatment expect around 8 to 12 wait in emergency, people are very nosy and want to know all your business so they can gossip as they are not too intelligent. There is not much to do except walking if you like that or have a dog. Tradespeople are very bad at turning up if you need work doing on your property, don't even call to say they can't make it. Stores outside Halifax are poor and hard to get anything so thankfully Amazon exists. Power outages occur during high winds due to old infrastructure and only one power company in control and they would rather pay their investors than look after customers. Car dealers are really bad scammers and liars and not very knowledgeable on their products.
