My in laws moved to Albuquerque in the 70's. We visited every year 2-3 times a year. It is a beautiful place to visit or live .My son moved there 7 years ago and loves it too!!

As a 3rd generation native of Albuquerque, I'll give you my list of pros and cons, please scroll down, Pros: Beautiful scenery. The sunsets, the colors of the mountains, the colors of the homes and buildings is wonderful. Friendly people. New Mexico is one of the friendliest places you will ever visit. I say this as a person who has been to most of America, and much of the rest of the world. Food, mostly. Albuquerque does the native food very well. There are lots of places which serve good food, but few-to-none which serve great food. Activities. There are lots of things to do. Hiking, running, cycling, skiing (though you have to drive a bit to get to the slopes), off-roading, hunting, fishing. Culture. Albuquerque does have an old and interesting culture. Now for the cons. Low quality of life. New Mexico rates around 49 out of the 50 states for quality of life. Jobs are not hard to find, but well-paying jobs are few and far between. Entrepreneurial opportunities are limited compared to other states. Public schools. New Mexico's public schools are rated 51st in America, falling behind even Washington DC. The poor quality of education is largely responsible for the other social ills which plague Albuquerque. Crime. This has been an issue in Albuquerque forever. My grandfather (a grad of the old Albuquerque High in downtown) told interesting stories of assaults, robberies, stabbings, and shootings, and this happened back in the 1930's Addiction and homelessness. Unfortunately, Albuquerque is one of those cities which has legalized cannabis and somewhat relaxed other drug laws. This has resulted in an explosion in addiction, homelessness, retail theft, prostitution, and a hundred other things. Central Avenue, which was formerly the thriving heart of the city, is now Bedlam, with homeless encampments along the road, crowds of homeless on the bus platforms and stops; trash, filth, and feces. For this reason alone I would strongly recommend no one consider moving to Albuquerque. Public corruption. New Mexico and Albuquerque have Third World levels of public corruption, at all levels of government. If you are a newcomer looking to get into business in Albuquerque, and are looking to become a service provider to local or state government, you'll have to pay up front, or promise a percentage of your contract as a kickback to whoever gets it done for you.

@@ampiciline Gallup has the same social problems as Albuquerque, but on steroids. In addition to the drug addicts, you have the homeless alcoholics off the Big Rez. New Mexico ranks with California as an example of how not to run a state.

I think Albuquerque is beautiful and super green. I live in El Paso, Tx though, now that’s a damn desert with hardly any green.

I agree with you, spent 4 days in El Paso. Not for me. It so barren. Albuquerque for some reason is vastly better looking. I have gone to ABQ 4 times as a tourist from the Northwest.

@@calgary2800 Both are great cities I have been to both, I can see what your thinking about El Paso being barren compared to Albuqurque, I think both have their own personal charms to them as cities

I waiting for my section 8 so I can move there with my daughter, how good is the health insurance because she is type 1 and needs insulin, pods and a dexcom, which she gets all for free in Massachusetts. And what about transportation? Is there trains or subways?

Health care is great here. I would do some research on who you will be carrying as far as insurance to really get an idea of what they offer in our state. As far as transportation we have city buses.

I love the videos but to much advertising for realty business I feel like it would be enough to advertise at the beginning and again at the end or something running at the bottom of screen but I’ve gotten tired of hearing it every couple mins!! Like is the video literally only advertising?? And I’ve read comments about how bad the crime and drugs and how dirty and that some things are and none of that have I seen in any of the videos yet and I feel like if it’s a city that I am thinking about moving to I do wanna see that to a certain extent also Because it’s unavoidable if you live there and with thinking about relocating from Wisconsin to somewhere west or I don’t know yet I just want to get away from the snow and I don’t want humidity so New Mexico seems very interesting the school issues have not really been discussed like how bad really are they are they really worse than Washington DC schools because they’re supposed to be some of the worst that’s kind of scary do they have programs like we do like choice where you can pick your kids school as long as you provide the transportation so if we move there could my grandson go to a better school as long as we’re willing to take him? Also what neighborhoods or streets or areas do you completely avoid because if I’m looking for houses for sale on realtor.com or Zillow I don’t know how that neighborhood is based on pictures that have been puffed up to look nice ideally you’d want to come visit to see the neighborhood but I’ve moved a couple times in the past 10 years thinking every place I was moving was decent because when I went to look at the house it was during the day everybody was at work or gone the houses overall looked decent and then I’d move in and discover very quickly that it was not the neighborhood I thought it was I know I’m not in the best situation with how much I can spend on a house that I can get some super great neighborhood I already know that I’m in around 200k or less price range maybe I could stretch it to two 220-230k but that would be the max depending on some factors but I also don’t need a four bedroom house or 1500 ft.² ideally I would like a one or two bedroom main level with a finished basement which I don’t even know if you have basements their lol I would really like for one of my children to be able to live in a home with me but have kind of separate areas sharing a kitchen is one thing but like maybe my daughter could live in the main area with her kids and I could live in the lower or something that would be an ideal situation or side-by-side town houses or something would even work but those usually go for quite a bit more not here in Wisconsin but other states plus they’re not super common to come up for sale! I’m originally from Milwaukee which is around I want to say about 1 million when you add the suburbs but the main city is 600,000 I moved to Racine which is about 80,000 people now I live in Fond du Lac which is 40,000 people and it’s way too small I would like to live in a city smaller than Milwaukee Bigger than Fond du Lac for sure I would like to live maybe 70,000 people all the way up to maybe 200 250 depending on the city and how bad some of the issues are I’ve also heard about a lot of corruption in New Mexico now my four adult children would be moving also at some point and my father he would at some point like I said ideally one of my children and their family would live with me to save money and and I’ll live a better life living with extended family and I could be a built-in babysitter with that being said I’m also open to living in a city that is about an hour or less commute from a bigger city because my children may want to live in a bigger city because they are you know very young adults starting out so my sons would like to find hopefully an apprenticeship or learn a trade and go into something like plumbing or electrical my daughter works in a group home for disabled adults and would like to stay in a similar field caregiving of some kind probably and I’m disabled so I am on a fixed income but we would be looking for probably a cash sale or a very small mortgage we do have two properties to sell here in Wisconsin one in Racine and one in Fond du Lac there is a mortgage on one of about 100,000 left and the two properties would probably bring in about on the low end 300 K maybe more I know this is saying a lot on KZread probably some thing I should’ve put on Reddit or somewhere but maybe people have some comments or some suggestions or ideas I am serious and I am looking to get these houses on the market in the next 30 days if I have to maybe sooner but I have no clue where to move so I kind of need to figure that out or will end up staying again and if we don’t sell these houses soon we won’t get as much the bubble will burst soon it has to lol if the creator reads this maybe you have some tips or ideas another city you brought up in another video I forget the name of it it was Rio something I think not far from Albuquerque and I believe it was about 100,000 people to major medical centers but yeah any comments advice tips I don’t really know where to go from here.
