How to get stereo spread voices with a Prophet 5 or any synth with mono output. One benefit compared to traditional double L/R is perfect phase.

Thank you for this video! By "line" you mean "manually select 2 or 3 notes that you'll group into a "voice" yourself". The prophet doesn't have individual outputs for each of the (5 in your case) voices, and there's no way you could know which voice was being used for which note in advance. P10 (desktop) + Ableton user here, so if I'm missing something and you can record individual voices easily, I'd love to know!

It has to be done manually, as far I’m aware of. Some planning beforehand makes it easier. This is not the way I normally go with the Prophet 5, but sometimes this can get the sound to open up. The benefit is the phase is kept perfect in stereo, wish is not the case when using chorus or layer L/R plus it gives a more open sound. But it can be a little bit time consuming…

You forgot "randomly-but-subtly putz with tuning, cutoff, etc." between recordings of each line.

You mean record each note in the chord seperate? kinda makes having a polysynth a waste of time.

Taking time with an analog synth is not waste of time to me, it’s passion as I’m not a preset cowboy.
