    Very interesting. Can you please explain why the decision was made to cancel it? And also how can anyone convert their drivers lic without having 120 days on their visa?

    The issue with the tourism visa no longer offering 6 months is that if you are going to stay here permanently on a tourist visa you won’t be able to get a Philippines driver license because it requires you to have 120 days on your visa to convert a foreign driver license

    You can't live permanently in the Philippines on a tourist visa, you have two options, you can marry a filipina and apply for the 13A permanent residency visa or you can apply for the SRRV special retirement visa..

    @@PeevyMctweevy there are a lot of expats here who live here permanently and just do visa runs to reset their timer. I am on a tourist visa and married to a Filipina and even have a son with my wife and we are currently working with a lawyer to get my 13A but there are plenty of expats who are retired here who aren’t prior military and cannot get the SRRV visa and don’t want to get married so they’re the ones who will have issues with not being able to drive in the Philippines.

    Hello @retiredcryptohunter9031, thank you for the comment. If an expat plans to stay permanently, the best choice would be applying for a permanent visa, to minimize hassle.

    Actually I went yesterday to BI Immigration in Intramuros. You can still apply for 6 months but, it must be signed by the BI commissioner for approval. Will update if it gets approved. That is the difference now.

    Hi, I was going to mail my passport in for a renewal, so I was going to get a 6-month visa extension. Under a 2 month extension, I will not get my passport back in time to extend my visa. Any suggestion on how to resolve this issue?

    Hello @kbwalkin7316, thank you for your comment. Recently, the Bureau of Immigration has suspended the 6-month visa extension. However, you can still apply for a 2-month visa extension. If you overstay, you can update your visa once your passport is available, and don't forget to do the Transfer of Admission Stamp. For further assistance, please email us at jrc.customerhelpline@jrcconsultancy.com. Thank you.

    Moving yes. Visiting can be wonderful, depending on one’s budget. Actually living there can work if you can afford to make your own peaceful rural abode (with Starlink Internet) on huge acreage and use agents/couriers/helpers for all the annoying senseless crap.

  • @Anonymint-vj7bt
    @Anonymint-vj7btАй бұрын

    Thanks for the update. But you must wonder if 6 mo if still available under certain “circumstances.” As for the low-trust, selfish culture that some Filipinos have in varying degrees, despite their amazing jovial/festive side, I think originates from a group-effect of struggle and hardship, especially in the past which carries over. Also elitism once someone has some money and owns a vehicle, they think they are special. Or can just be everyone is tired from the congestion and numbing/annoying when one sees a zillion people like ants everyday, to give that extra consideration to others. OTOH, as we know Filipinos (like many Asians) are very attuned to reading the room and those who try to stand out or act arrogant are really perceived very negatively. It is a different culture than the Western countries which are very high-trust, but have their negative aspects as well. My attitude is live in a rural area in peace and then bring my good attitude with me to the sh8ties and try to make others feel good with consideration and smiles. I find it goes a long way and helps. Then get out of the sh8tty and recharge my inspiration again. I wish you the best sir in coping and finding the breath of fresh air.
