Same setup but in 308 1/2 the price great performance. For those who want that but can’t afford that price tag. It’s possible to do it yourself for less. Or have it built by a pro for less.

    I helped a friend put together a 6 CM AR platform rifle with a stainless Proof Research barrel. The rifle is incredible. It put 4 bullets on top of each other with one a bit off (my fault) during barrel break in on two different brands of ammunition. Shots 27-31 were close enough that a penny ran through the center of all 5 shots or completely covered them. Proof makes some great stuff. I forgot to mention it was 105 F out the day we were breaking in the barrel.

    Whats up Ray. I dig the channel. I just received a conviction ti chamber in 300WM, and I was wanting to install a 12 inch area419 arca rail and I was wondering if you had to modify/shorten the action screw or the screws on the front due to the picatinny rail being underneath the rail? Any advice would greatly be appreciated. I dont want to throw off the accuracy of the gun.

  • @XRING

    @XRING

    11 ай бұрын

    Hello Andrew. Thanks for watching the channel. Yes, I did have to modify the screw and had the same concerns about losing accuracy. Fortunately, I didn’t have any issues but I did have to get a little creative with the screw. If I remember correctly I also made a little spacer for a small gap that I had under the 419 rail. I would need to see the rifle again as I haven’t shot it in a while.

  • @andrewcannon2464

    @andrewcannon2464

    I appreciate the insight. Hopefully I will be eating some pudding in the future when I get it dialed in. Gonna take my time trimming that action screw, thats my main concern. The front screws that have the picatinny spacer shouldn’t be too difficult. At least I hope not. Thanks again and take care. Get that diet squared away.

Try to get "Mr. Bo Jangles" (Rick) to speak up more in both your videos and his. He is very soft-spoken and hard to understand at times, where you are not. Bless his heart, Rick seems to "mumble" at times. We all love the guy, and just want to hear what he is saying, too..."light a fire" under him right before he talks... or poor a few more Mason jars of tea into him! 😂! Most of all....Thanks to both of you for sharing your amazing videos! Josey. (out West in the great state of South Dakota)

    I enjoy these demo's because it lets me baseline my gear and shooting vs the high end gear and shooters. I have a Savage 12FV in 6.5 that shot a 5 round .39MOA group first range trip right out of the box (rounds 5-9). Another 12FV in .223 shot a 5 shot .29 MOA group of 69 grain SMK's and H335 also right out of the box. Both were ranged at 102.1 yards. I have a Bergara B14 HMR(my 'precision' rifle) in 6.5 that shoots the same. I'm not bragging, just saying precision doesn't have to be expensive. That said, my rifles are in no way a match for the Proof and would be very poor choices for any competition shoots (except maybe the Bergara) which is cool because I don't shoot matches anyway.

    Always impressive. In some ways I guess you can "buy accuracy " To expect sub moa from a 1000 dollar gun is fair. To pay 8 times that, I would like well under half moa. If that's not quite possible then I'm not paying 8000 dollars.

  • @robertbach9376

    Accuracy (though technically precision) is not the only thing you buy. You buy lightweight materials with good heat transfer to increase the life of the barrel as well as ergonomic design. I wouldn't/couldn't spend 8k on it all but when if you're someone who needs a rifle tailored to their unique situation then 8k becomes a bit more reasonable.

    You can slap a tl3 with a proof barrel for $2300 yourself and buy a manners stock for another $1,500 and a triggertech diamond trigger for another $250 and for $4k have a very nice gun. Proof rifle is way overpriced and gets you little to nothing over what you could put together yourself. For the $8k you spent on this rifle I could have used $3.5k for another optic and spur mount and maybe a little more money for other odd and in things. I save $3k at least and that’s more ammo to buy and practice with or more reloading components.

    lol... Mr.X-Ring said.... "I might not be capable of sub 1/2 M.O.A.?"...... RRRRRrrrrrrrr iiiiiiii ggg hhh t..... LOL @5:40. Mr. X-Ring's worst shot from 100 years ago, is my best shot today... lol. I appreciate the modesty though Mr. X-Ring.... I still find that statement funny.. Some day, as I am working towards that, to be 1/100th as good as you guys are.... maybe my new unit will help me, as I found what was causing me so many issues on the older unit.. which doesn't matter what the issue is, I think that whole set up I had was a plague from the get go, from the buttstock to the break, from the trigger to the scope... So, with all that said, I am so looking forward to the new unit testing this weekend. I do believe I need to come up with some excuses now, (just in case) the new units tells me that the problem is still me and that I simply suck... LOL.. Either way, I am really enjoying this avenue of learning the PRS'ing. Again, I Thank all of you, for not fearing the process of putting effort into educating for silly folks like myself to believe that I too can have progress in this sport. My next comment, might come off as a loser type mentality, It is not, rather, I just really am not worried about being the best at this sport, that doesn't mean, that if I happened to become one of the greats that I would prevent that from happening, but isn't my mission to become the greatest. The idea of thinking I could be in time #1 in the world, frankly, just sounds silly to me. Likewise, from other ventures I have done, where I was exceptionally great at something, it also started to become not fun anymore to me. So, with that stated, I am just taking my time, and enjoying myself as I walk this path of PRS'ing.. Thank you. Dru

    Ray - we are scoping out Asheville, NC for a move from Calif., as we yearn to breathe free. Do you know what the distance range situation is in the vicinity. We have friends there, but none that have guns or shoot. (Heathens, I know.) Are you guys nearby? I would be happy with your ranges. Don't pay attention to the naysayers. You want to shoot 3 rd groups, then you shoot 3 rd groups.

    Hey Sigboy, I am just a little east of Asheville. Beautiful place but I would stay on the outskirts. Old Fort with the 700 yard range is about 20 mins away. You will like it here much better than Cali for sure.

    @@XRING Ray, that I will like it better there than here is an absolute. We wanted to move some years ago, but the Big C came a callin, and shot our plans in the butt. I have no interest in being a city dweller. The city is there when it is needed. Our friends live in Arden. I'm looking for something with a little altitude and some land so I can step out the front door for some basic shooting, maybe a little setup like Hickok45 has. I've scoped out Old Fort, so have my parameters. Thanks for the info and the encouragement.

    After watching this and your DD5 pro video, the DD5 is hands down a better buy as it shoots the same AND saves me 6k 😆

    I agree. The DD5 Pro is a great rifle and value for the money. I also like the quick change barrel system on the DD. So much so, I did buy the DD. Thanks for watching.

    Toys for the big boys. Unless I'm crowned a king or win the lottery this is just fun to watch cause I'm about to retire and certainly won't be generating this kind of cash. Nice job and sure with hand loads you'd expect same hole for this money but again there is that pesky human thing.

    I don’t know if you have ever answered this question. But what do you do for a living? You have some really nice toys/ tools. I recently saw your trunk monkey video and since then it’s got me wondering cus I’m sure that was a 12-15k rig. Cus all I can say is I’m clearly in the wrong profession. Thanks anyway even if you don’t answer I really enjoy your videos.
