Thank you for being honest. Locs aren’t meant to be tight all the time. It’s a low maintenance way to wear the hair. She probably has been over styling for years, but she was feeling herself tho.

As a Caribbean person, I've seen locs all my life. Don't really remember seeing people with thinning locks. Like, if a rasta was balding, he would just have that section bald. He wouldn't force length. So i wonder if it's the new method of locing. Like, true rastas aren't know for slick parts and tight roots. Maybe it's the modern methods.

That’s a great point! The Caribbean is also rich for that vitamin D exposure and cleaner diet as well. Could be a mix of the method and all that as well! 🤯

I'm from aruba and even when i was a kid none of my uncles had locs issues till this day they don't have any only two uncles cut their locs for personal reasons.z - What i do remember is that their hair is always strong it's probably the diet and sun exposure and not using products like most people do over here in europe or the usa people over here overuse products and interlock or retwist it till you can see the scalp. - I've never seen the scalp from my uncles but their hair is past their lower back and looks healthy on top of that if people gotta dry their hair in europe or the usa they got NO sun to help them. -

4 years loc'd and loaded! I have super thick hair with about 150 locs. I cut them into a bob because they were at my mid back and weighed a couple lbs. I only retwist mine every 3 months and keep them in 2 strand twists. It keeps the edges from getting so shaggy. I don't do updos. I hope minimal retwist, minimal tension, and keeping it short works b/c i can't go back to natural-out hair. I look like a chia pet. 😂

@@TPlocks the constant tension on the hair like frequently retwists and most tight /high bun styles (especially when you have A LOT of locs) tend to weigh the hair down causing traction alopecia . Lol honestly people need to take care of they hair it’s just as simple as that to respond to what you said in the video no it’s not about limit your style it’s really seriously based on how much you get a retainer and if you wrapping your hair with the right hair wrap which mean get a bonnet for your locs keep your scalp moisturized you need good sunlight stop wearing beanies hats etc so much stop putting so many chemicals in your head use herbs etc don’t use gel use oil don’t play in your hair so much do to how many germs you transferring from your hands from touching so many things then you wanna sit and play in your hair etc and yes your supposed to get them wet not listen to that old bs when they said don’t get your locs wet that’s common sense to be honest people just don’t take care of they love how they pose to but they think they really are locs really is something different from a regular hair type or anything you really have to take care of them due to how much germs they could hold cause they touch so much cause they hanging off your head

All the things you mentioned NOT doing seem like telling people to stop having sex with people that don’t want lives with you. IT SOUNDS GOOD, but you ain’t bout to stop folks from using gels fam! 😅 I’d love to live in that natural holistic world but folk ain’t on it like that. And even then, ain’t no real way to predict how a scalp will react to locs. Some scalps are more sensitive and prone to alopecia. Hell most folks are nutrient deficient, and that can cause it too. It’s trickier than people think. Just my take.

I know this is an old video that you did three weeks ago, but I honestly think it’s not really the locks itself. I think it’s the techniques people are using. Most would suggest completely stopping with retwists until you see improvement using rosemary oil or another natural solution. Give your head a break basically. There’s also the minoxidil route. Everything has its pros and cons though. I’d recommend a dermatologist to really get an answer based on you. (Nutrients, scalp conditions etc.)
