Proof I'm Improving | Days 80-102 Post-op Vestibular Nerve Section & Craniotomy

Hello! I'm Kelly and I've had Meniere's disease since 2010. On May 25, 2023, I had a brain surgery for Meniere's disease called a Vestibular Nerve Section and Craniotomy after I exhausted all treatments for Meniere's disease. I kept a private video journal while I recovered from surgery and recently decided to make it public in hopes it would help others go through this surgery recovery. The date this video was recorded is listed below. I'm happy to answer any questions you have or talk more about my experience. Recovering from brain surgery was unlike anything I've every experienced. But I've come so far and I am SO glad I did it. Thanks for going on this journey with me!

Hi girl! Here is your personal chearleader again😜. (Patrick and i love to watch dallas cowboy cheerleaders on mtv) Being outdoors is very nice indeed and healing. I try to be outside every day. Doesnt always go. But i try. Oh djeez luckely bene didnt harm the cute opossum. The deer are soo pretty. Yeah good work again Bene. Im with your pt having to use your chair avain isnt a step back. Its indeed safer for now. You could have injured yourselve by faling and make your recovery harder. Yeay good work on the pillow exersize. 👍🍀❤ Hugs marloes

Thank you!! I love to watch the Dallas Cowboy Cheeleader reality show too - is that what you are talking about? Way to go for trying to get outside as much as you can. It is so important. I was so relieved the dogs didn't hurt the possum and it didn't hurt them! I appreciate you cheering me on! Sending hugs your way!

Mam do you still feel vertigo ? I always use to watch your videos I am also a meniere's patient and I appreciate I and you to that even we are meniere's patient but we are strong I also fight with vertigo in the age of 20 just... But many times I get inspired by you if you can fight against your journey then why I can't... I am also a student, I used to study but after 2 months it repeats and breakdown my confidence 🥺 but still I have a hope that one day I'll get cure... Mam can you please share your journey after labrinthectomy , how many you feel vertigo before labrinthectomy and after labrinthectomy in a day ? And do you have monolateral or bilateral meniere's?

Hello! Thank you for your message. I hate. you are living with Meniere's too. You are very brave and strong. The fight can be hard, but we can do it - one day at a time. Wow that is impressive you are a student. I can see why the Meniere's episodes would affect your confidence. It can feel very helpless to be so severely affected by this because it is so horrible. Remember it is not your fault, it is what is happening in your ear. Sometimes all we can do is take one moment at a time, one day at a time and do what we can to get through. I'm so proud of you for getting through such a rough health issue. I do still have vertigo in certain situations where my brain is still learning post surgery. It is a normal part of the healing process and will be completely gone once I've fully recovered. I did not have a labyrinthectomy. I had a Vestibular Nerve Section. They are completely different. Labyrinthectomy is a surgery that removes the inner ear organs and a vestibular nerve section is brain surgery where they go into the brain and cut the nerve between the brain and the ear. I only have Meniere's in my right ear. They do not recommend either surgery for someone with bilateral meniere's. Thank you for reaching out. You are not alone!
