Good job on showing how to properly solder and form claws for a setting, I would like to see some of the other KZread "jewelers" view your tutorials so that they can learn how to properly solder and and take care of their work so it isn't marred by their subsequent actions after polishing one side of their work. some are true amateurs! I enjoyed your tutorial, it was clear, concise and you explain the reasons why you do it that way as opposed to any other way. also letting people know that they can control where the solder goes, by using the heat to do so. Very well done! If people follow your tutorials they will learn to do things right and gain in experience and most importantly, it will show in their work! I'm going to share a link to this video with another KZread jeweler who could really benefit from watching your tutorial, it's much better than me trying to explain something to them when I do not have the visuals to help explain the procedures! Who knows, he might even become a subscriber! Thanks for the video, you have earned my subscription and I look forward to more good quality tutorials!

I also love that she doesn't skip. You get a really good sense of the process and you end up learning a lot more actually. It is proven that watching someone do something helps you rehearse those movements in your mind and your own body and nervous system so when you go to do it you can actually improve just from having watched them! I can say I have vicariously soldered, set and finished a pronged pendant today haha!

I always check out your tutorials before starting any project, I always find the most helpful tips. What gauge silver would you recommend to use for this so I can try. Thanks so much again, these are the most helpful tutorial on KZread 😀

It depends on if you are working with silver and gold, what the design of your piece is and how heavy the stone is. But for silver I would always go for 1 mm or rather even 1,2 mm wire to make prongs.
