@@Igorls8 ahh, I reread your original comment. I understand your opinion now. I'm a big fan of both - what about Hvorostovsky's sound do you dislike?

@@et_baritone it’s not about like or dislike. He obviously had a bad technique, too much of a throat sound without proper support. Everyone in the opera world knows what I’m talking about. You can compare his singing with all time greats like Leonard Warren or Ettore Bastianini and hear it for yourself. Then you can compare Gihoon Kim in this video with his performance on Tchaikovsky competition finale, which he certainly should’ve won. Hvorostovsky was very handsome and charismatic, he was a decent actor and a very marketable singer overall, especially in today’s time with its lack of proper baritones. He had a very successful career outside of opera in Russia, was loved by everyone including me, so he was a good investment for the production companies. It’s just business first of all
